What's for dinner (or lunch?) [More:]
I had no food indoors so I went to Morrisons on my way home from work. I'm starving, I've only had a banana, an apple and two Jammie Dodgers today. There was some minced beef (ground beef to USians) half price because it has to be used today, so I'm making a bolognese sauce, which is simmering on the hob.

Meat, onions, garlic, a tin of tomatoes, some tomato paste, salt, pepper and a big stir of pesto. I'll eat it with some rigatoni (which is a BOGOF this week at Morrisons) and some grated Parmesan cheese. For a change bought a piece of fresh cheese instead of the usual horrid pre-packed cheese.

Cinnamon-roast pineapple to follow, with crème frâiche.
Many apples, most likely.

Oh man, I was thinking of making a bolognese at some point this week, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Thank you for reminding me!

Tonight's dinner is probably going to be some leftover chicken pie (just one that I got out of a box, nothing fancy, I was lazy yesterday evening), and some random vegetables. Unless the flatmate shows up and I have to try and feed two and then who knows.

For dinner, red wine, washed down with a crusty loaf of Italian bread, creamy cheese, prosciutto and olives. Lots of it. Followed by more red wine. Did I mention red wine?

Taking my niece out for dinner before we go to a movie test screening! I'm leaving the choice of restaurant to her, but I'm guessing she'll choose the vegan Asian-fusion place, in which case I'll have the asparagus tempura salad with peanut dressing. Best. Salad. Ever.

Dinner will be our usual Thursday night dinner - A&W Chicken strips and onion rings.

arse_hat that sounds so goo.

Lunch was just a cold salad of spinach leaves, chicken chunks, croutons, Carolina style barbeque, and apple-poppy dressing.

Don't question me.

Going out to the Church Brew Works tonight for Geek Night so I'll be eating pizza or other pub-type food. I'll be drinking either Pious Monk Dunkel or Pipe Organ Pale Ale.

An enormous plate of French cheese (we actually bought it in France, woo!) and crackers and wine. Later, leftover ham and pea soup. And more wine. I'm with msali.

For lunch: Turkey, ham, and cheese sandwich on a wheat roll with pesto and mayonnaise. Cottage cheese. Nice tall glass of water.

For dinner: Not sure yet. Perhaps leftovers.

Lunch will probably be a deluxe potato pancake. I found a small pan that cooks such things perfectly.

octothorpe: I love the Church Brew Works! I still have some beer glasses from there.

Civil War day, the "big" football game between UO and OSU, so I brought a cake and had them mash up the team names.

Not that many people noticed.

lunch - waiting for my friend from Hawaii to show up on my doorstep so we can decide where we can go eat something interesting. She better come soon, it's nearly 1 pm and I'm ready to gnaw on my arm.

dinner - I have a lone pork chop defrosting in the fridge, to go with Kraft Mac N Cheese, only the second time in my life I have ever made / eaten it

I was going to have a salad for my primary meal today, but instead I grilled up a couple of ham, levtover turkey, cheddar, provolone sandwiches in butter and chicken broth with some black pepper thrown into the mix. Yummy!

Our regular supermarket has a Chinese takeout station called "Master Fung" - presumably named after the plump jolly Chinese man in a chef's uniform whose large poster gazes down benevolently over the steam table. The running joke between Mrs. Beese and myself is that Fung is an actual person and the Chinese kid who cartons up the food - an Asian equivalent of the squeaky voiced kid with pimples on The Simpsons - is his oldest son, working as an apprentice until he can be entrusted with his father's flavor secrets.

If my timing is fortunate and I arrive soon after a fresh batch of orange chicken is brought out from the back, we'll enjoy the succulence as I note "We're having the Master's best tonight."

I will tell you what I had for breakfast: I had popovers with butter and honey. I'm doing this more and more often because it's easy, hot, filling, and delicious.

Thai BBQ beef and noodle salad for dinner, with lots of Asian herbs and plenty of nuoc mam dressing with a LOT of fresh chilli. And then roast peach and blood-plum salad for dessert with vanilla ice-cream.

Dunno about lunch. I'm considering making sushi rolls.

I made handpies from Thanksgiving leftovers. Dinner is one pulled randomly from the fridge. I'm hoping for delicata squash with gruyere and pine nuts. I might get root veggies and tomato paste. How much do I love pate brisee? SO MUCH.

I made a lasagna with chanterelle mushrooms (season is winding down, must enjoy them while I can!) on Monday and today will be the last meal from that endeavor. I've got a pretty bad cold so no wine with it alas :(

BP, hey when where you in the 'burgh? The brew works is on of my favorite places in the world. I'm quite buzzed on vanilla bourbon porter right now. Life is good.

Change of plans: dinner was roasted vegetable chilaquiles with salsa verde, a lime rickey, and a coconut cupcake. Hell yes.

Dinner was enchiladas with leftover turkey, black beans, and pepperjack cheese, with a roasted tomatillo and pasilla pepper sauce. They were ok, but needed more sauce, and the recipe called for poblano peppers, which I could not find but probably also would have been better.
