The pedophilia bit didn't phase me at all. That misconception is old news. I was mostly kind of flummoxed by the prospect of this dude thinking that a gay man would just naturally rape a woman. Your mamas!

I tend to be pretty dismissive about such stupidity, but then I remind myself that this country elected, and re-elected an idiot, and that there is an even more egregious idiot (of the other gender) running around getting a lot of attention, and that, in the terms of human history, Nazi Germany was not that long ago and there is no good reason to think that this country is immune from such a thing.

No, actually. There was a group of students nearby pointedly making fun of him, and then one guy walked by in frustration and yelled SHUT UP!!! Then he changed tacks and started talking about free speech and the homos who wanted to outlaw it.

Sorry, I'm not up on my gay terminology. I didn't realize that lesbians aren't homos, and that the latter term relates only to men.
