Thread for Halloween Sightings [More:]At the farmer's market this morning: woman in cheerleader skirt and varsity jacket, ponytails. Man in matching football shirt. In his arms, week-old baby in a brown wrap with football lacings on it, and a point football cap.

I complimented them and asked "So did you plan this before the baby was born?" The mom said "Yeah, we had it figured to work either way - if the baby was late we were just going to be quarterback and knocked-up cheerleader."
The knee bone's connected to the thigh bone ...

Mrs. O is in a full 19th Century Hoop-Skirt Dress and Hat to answer the door. She bought it for the Victorian house tour that we work on at Christmas but is recycling it for Halloween.

Squirrel Hill does a neighborhood trick-or-treating all along Murray Avenue with participation from a good percentage of the shops and other businesses, so I could barely move up the street earlier due to the sidewalks being crammed with costumed children and adults. My favorites were the homemade Little-Engine-That-Could, a Mr. Rogers (comfy at-home version), a Portuguese man o' war (rigged with a handleless umbrella covered in iridescent fabric and dangling long bouncy tentacles- I may have to steal the idea some year), and a pair of Eskimos with their sled dogs. Now I'm at the coffeeshop, where my espresso was brewed by George Harrison and my toffee brownie served by a lithe gazelle.

Just 1 group, but they were cute. Now, the Reeses' cups are all mine.

Not one, not two, but three (separate) African-American people *in whiteface* dressed as Michael Jackson.

I am evil because i loled.

At the bar where my friend (dressed as a flasher) and his band played last night, my favorite costumes included a couple dressed as Dale Cooper and the Log Lady (complete with stuffed log) from Twin Peaks, a pair of foreclosed houses (white shirt with felt windows, grass skirts over pants, and hats that look like roofs), and two groups (one was the Breakfast Club gang, the other were the kids from Scooby Doo).

I pulled together an outfit from my closet and went as a goth kitty cat (with ears and belled collar) but alas! I forgot to get a picture.

And my friend frito_kal on MeFi made cupcakes for her weekly farmer's market gig.

At a bar I went to last night, the waitresses were a cat and an umpire (think sexy with thigh-high stockings). Patrons included a great flapper outfit, glamorous witch, military men, cowboy. But my favorite was a guy in full demon mask, chatting on his cell phone. For a moment he belonged in a Star Wars type bar.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the teenage girls I saw at my store dressed as Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Scandalously skimpy versions, anyway.
