I'm gonna be a picnic! (Costume suggestions!) →[More:]I have a red-and-white checked shirt and a similar skirt, so I suddenly realized I could go as a picnic for Halloween!

I have a nice pic-a-nic basket already. What ideas do you have for completing this costume? Performance elements are good - this will be worn to a parade and accompanying festivity.

- Plastic fruit/food attached (somehow) to your outfit

- Hat made of a stack of plates (plastic? paper?) with a stack of cups on the top of the plates

- I really like the oversized ants idea

My SO went as a picnic once, we cut a head-sized hole in a large sheet of cardboard, draped it in a red/white checked cloth and hot-glued paper plates, cups and foodstuffs onto it. People were serving themselves out of his chip bowl all night. The only tactical problem was when he tried to squeeze through doorways.

Maybe make some mayonaise now, leave it on the countertop to spoil so in a month, you can hand it out (all green and furry) and warn everyone:
"Careful now, that's been sitting out for an hour or two, and it has mayonaise in it so.... you know."

/me remains unconvinced that commercial mayo is WMD.

You really need to be handing out food/candy from that basket. Think Betty Draper for makeup. You wanna look like the platonic idea of Sunshine, Apple Pies, And Outdoor eating.
