Things Can Always Get Weirder, Employment Dept:, WTF Division.... [More:]

Okay, so I finally get online today to find a brief, cryptic message from the one person who's repped me at my IT placement agency since 2007. Saying he's no longer with the agency, effective 2pm TODAY.

No previous intimations he was leaving the company, no mention when he submitted me for a bid earlier this week. So now I've been fobbed off to someone who has no history with me or the firm I'm trying to get on with, for the only employment option I've had in nine months.

I'm totally stressed and frustrated by how little control over this situation I have right now, and really irritated at the lack of professionalism that my rep showed.

Unless he got laid off, also, at which point I say "Welcome to my world, man."

LT SMASH!
That's normal LT. As soon as it's known he is leaving the company will lock his accounts and get him out of the building ASAP. He could not have told you sooner. If he has a new job I'm sure he'll call you soon.

I doubt he really had the room to tell you. Reps come and go in my experience, and sometimes that does mean hooking you up with a new agency/recruiter.

I'd imagine, at jobs like that, they aren't allowed to put in two weeks notice. At my last job if you put yours in they would cut your access to the computer within moments so you didn't walk out with a pile of contact info and so on.

Sounds like your pal got the boot. That stinks.

Yeah, that stinks indeed. He got walked Spanish down the hall. Maybe you can find him on LinkedIn and get the scoop?

So, if everybody knows this, I guess that you pull all needed info before you give notice, duh. So what is the point?

I just thought it was bizarre that if he were fired/laid off/walked Spanish down the hall, he wouldn't have the time to say, "hey by the way, I'm not with the company anymore, and I'll be leaving at 2pm today, and here's my contact now, and so forth."

LT, it's just a horrible job market and it's hard to hang in there. Probably the guy got laid off, and is preoccupied with his own troubles. {hug}
