I need an antidote to today! This is a whining thread. [More:]1. Typical work bullshit started before I had coffee.
2. Got rejected for an Americorps position this morning.
3. UPS keeps leaving "you must sign for this package" notices on TOP of the previous signed notice but not leaving the package.
4. My ankle has begun hurting in ways it didn't hurt when the doctor did all his poking, gave me the cast and sent me on my way.
5. I miss my sister, who no longer lives 1.2 miles away for the very first time in my life (except for college, when she lived 1.5 hours away).
UPS can be a bunch of dicks about leaving packages. For some reason, they won't do it in my neighborhood, but USPS doesn't have any problem with it. (I do live on the third floor and I know they just throw them up the stairs, but still, at least they make an effort.)

1. My database has decided to blow up and I have no idea why. It still functions and collects input and saves it and it does work, but it randomly throws errors and won't display this one form anymore at all, even though you can still work directly from the table. (This isn't a huge problem for me, since I'm familiar with the tables, but it's useless for everyone else in the department.) I really don't know enough about Access to be doing this sort of crap. Not having any help other than what Microsoft has and what I can scrounge up by Googling isn't helping matters. Argh.

2. My dance class ends next week and doesn't resume until October. I really hope my friend remembers to bring back my dance DVD when she visits because otherwise I'm going to be pissed.

3. My mother was being all pissy and telling me that I have to go show up at their house every once in a while, even though it's an hour round-trip for me and I really hate dealing with them for longer than 10 minutes at a stretch.

4. I'm feeling quite useless at work lately and even though I've finished everything I said I would on my PA at the beginning of the year, I always feel like I'm one missed step away from being out of a job. :-/

5. I really need to plan another vacation, but while I've got the vacation days to do it at work (and in fact am almost at the limit for days to carry), I have no money to go anywhere.

Family friends are visiting SF for the first time ever this weekend and I'm going down on Saturday to spend the afternoon with them. Very exciting. BUT. I submitted an invoice for my freelance job and asked the business manager to express mail it to me so that I could have the check by Friday. (I even deducted the express mail postage from my wages.) She responded (rather curtly) that she would put a check in the mail but was too busy today to go to the P.O. I responded (rather meekly) that tomorrow would be okay too, if she had time.

Really hoping I get the check by Friday, else my trip to SF will be in jeopardy.

(Y'all cross yer fingers.)

(Crush, it's totally idiotic that Americorps turned you down. WTF? They should be so lucky!)

(Mudpuppie--I hate it when people are so pissy about things like that. It's not like you're asking her to cut off a limb or something.)

(Yes, it's crazy. I thought I had even fully addressed the "why would I want to leave my (supposedly) high paying job to do this" in my application. It's such a kick in the teeth when you can't even give your skills/education away. Argh. So I'm going to have a lunch of expensive chocolate and good coffee.)

(Just means it wasn't meant to be. Chocolate and coffee, however, very definitely IS.)

UPS isn't in the package delivery service, they're in the yellow note delivery service. I never, ever use them unless there's no other option and, in those cases, always have them deliver to work so I don't have to deal with them.

I'm sorry to hear that, crush. There will be something else. Keep looking!

Of all the things I could whine about, that I am still too sick to read stings the worst.
