Bear With Me on This One. . . I was out on a playground, as part of my job getting a sales pitch from a vendor for some equipment, and[More:] he notices my t-shirt, which is for James Goodall Guitars, and so we start talking about our guitars, and we both have some old, nice ones, and somehow I mention some of the old guitars in the Experience Music Project in Seattle (since he's based up there), and he mentions casually "Oh some of my old band's stuff is in there," and I go, oh really, what band? And he goes, "We were called Blood Circus, and then he goes on to mention that Nirvana OPENED for them, and also Mudhoney, whose members used to come to shows, and were inspired to form a band by hearing Blood Circus.

He said that sobering up led to his not being in that scene anymore; not being sober per se, but having everyone in the band still using, and the discrepancy of lifestyles not meshing.

For a music geek, a pretty neato happenstance.
aside to danf--my daughter will be going back to Girls Rock camp in three weeks. She's been practicing so much that she got a blister on her thumb. Huge difference from last year, when she was nervous and scared about going, and I had to work really hard not to push her. Your descriptions of your daughter's experiences helped a great deal then. This year, it's all smiles and excitement.

mrmoonpie, excellent. . .

Didja cry whilst watching her at the showcase?

(My daughter is jobless in Portland. . one of the reasons she's not looking harder for a job is that she's volunteering at the Rock Camp there now.)

oh man - Girls Rock - rocks! I am sad that we just missed our local concert. If my kid was a girl I would definitely be looking forward to that!
