My Sunday. . . Went up French Pete quite a ways.→[More:] It's a low elevation part of the Three Sisters Wilderness area and very beautiful. You don't really have sweeping vistas, but the old growth forest is lush and green and very inspiring.

One the way home, listening to some music on the radio, which I hardly ever did, heard a song by the Sweetback Sisters, who I have never heard of before but it was catchy enough for me to look it up and buy it. Anyone on the East Coast ever seen them?

How was your weekend? I was sorry to miss the Portland 10th anniv meetup but by wife had made other plans and I had a good time.

Heh, danf, I spent it pretty similarly.

But on the Gorge rather than by Sisters. We won't make it to Sisters until towards the end of August (with luck). At some point before mid September, if my housesitter can find time, we are going to take a tour of Oregon to visit some places I haven't been in a while, like Crater Lake, Hells Canyon, John Day, Strawberry Mountain, the Fossil beds, the lava beds, places like that. I'm really excited about it.

We hiked 9 miles on the old Historic Columbia River Highway on the Twin Tunnels trail. One of the tunnels has graffiti from 1921 from some teenagers who were trapped there during a freak snowstorm!

I couldn't go to the PDX MeFi 10 either - my sister was visiting from out-of-state and she didn't leave until Sunday.

sil. . .I would really like to hike into Eagle Creek, at some point. . I hear that is really nice.
