Bubba The Dog had seizures last night, and I threw up. [More:]He's fine, mind you. His mom is fine, too. I, on the other hand, am a wreck. Last night was much worse, but I'm still randomly choking up.

When it happened, my first reaction was "OK, let's get him to the ER." I found an emergency vet, called and got directions, and held Bubba while his mom got her stuff together. Carried him out to the car, still seizing. Followed the housemate to the vet's office. By the time we got there, Bubba was fine--his old perky self.

The worst part for me was my physiological response. The entire time I was shaking uncontrollably, to the point where I could barely hold a pen. Then there was the cold sweat, the release via tears, and the vomiting. I didn't calm down fully for about two hours. I suspect that my extreme reaction may have been in part because I have epilepsy but had never seen a seizure before. Scary, scary stuff.

It may be a good thing I don't have kids--I don't know if I could handle the emergencies. My stomach is still not entirely settled.
Oh, you poor thing. Sorry Stewie and Bubba. What can they do for the dog - medicine? Wat it his first seizure?

Aw, poor guys! I'm glad Bubba is okay, and I'm so sorry it's been so tough on you!

Bubba is fine. It's not his first seizure, apparently, but his mom didn't witness the first one. She was freaked, I was freaked, it sucked. No meds and just take care of the dog as you would a human who was having a seizure. Make sure he's breathing, etc. Blah though. He may not have any more, who knows?

Oh, and here are the mandatory Bubba pix.

Ack! How distressing! Betty had a few seizures, & they were alarming to watch. Hope Bubba's back to being all poochy & tonight is a throw-up free night. (((stewie)))

Oh noes! Poor Bubba. Poor you. I hope he doesn't have any more and that, if he does, you get through it ok with him.

How awful for you!

Hugs and wuffles.

Now, se if you can go out in the sunshine and breath deeply and calmly - I'm sure re-telling the story is bringing all the flood of emotions back! Big Hugs!
