Paging Occhiblu: What was that food checklist web site? [More:]

About a year or two ago Occhiblu posted about a healthy food checklist website ran by a Doctor or Nutritionist.

I've gone through her posting history, as well my own comments since I was sure I commented on it, and googled several combinations of search terms but I still can't find it.

Occhiblu, are you out there? Or does anyone else recall the site I am referring to?
whfoods.com?

Oh, I meant to tack on - THANKS BIRDIE!

I am here, but birdie beat me to it.

That's an awesome site. I was just thinking about it the other day, actually.

That list can be summarized, "With few exceptions, don't buy anything that comes in a can, a bag or a box."

Agree with Ardiril - that's my MO. My exceptions: wheat-blend pasta, Kashi crackers, Kashi snack bars, and the occasional frozen pizza. Well, also cans. I use canned beans exclusively, except for lentils, and always have backstock of crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, coconut milk, artichokes, black olives, chipotle peppers and green chilies in cans.

My problem with the canned stuff is the sodium content. Do you know how much weight I could lose if I could eat all the pickles and olives and drink all the V-8 (reduced sodium, my ass) I wanted?

Anyway, if you stick with fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh cuts of meat. and whole grain breads and other cereal items, you can pretty much pitch the list. Buy your nuts from the bakery section rather than the snack section. As for yogurt, buy plain yogurt and add your own fruit; you avoid a LOT of excess sugar. The biggest trick is to get a good collection of herbs and spices and learn how to combine them.

Hi Occhiblu. I thought you might be lurking around here too... and as soon as I saw birdie's answer I went Ackkk, that's right, how could I forget that's what it was?

Others: Heh. I wasn't looking for healthy food. I want all of the salt, fat, calories and msg I can get. I was trying to find out something specific about Flax seeds. but Hi! anyway.

"I want all of the salt, fat, calories and msg I can get." -- Lucky you! heheh

One thing's fershur! If you start the meal with healthy ingredients, it will probably taste awesome.
