A real life GET OFF MY LAWN moment Brought to you by the kids down the road, and also by the letters F and U.[More:]They've been shooting off bottle rockets a few doors down for HOURS. They do this almost every weekend. Normally it doesn't bother me, but I was trying to concentrate on something and it is driving me insane. The mother obviously doesn't care; she walks right by the boys on her front lawn.

So I called the cops. It's been about 40 minutes. We live in a bedroom community of 8000 people. There can't be that much to do, but they haven't arrived yet. I bet if I'd reported "suspected gunshots" they'd be here by now.
'cause shots fired would actually be worth the police's time to deal with.

I had never heard of this term until your post.
Thank you.

I was talking on the phone with someone the other day and he literally said "what the hell is this asshole kid doing with his bike on my lawn?" half to himself.

It took him about ten seconds to realize what came out of his mouth.

It's a cliche, but I spend a lot of time taking care of my damn lawn, so get the hell off it!

Bottle rockets are potential fires and life-threatening injuries so they're, you know, illegal. If you've got a big spare field or something, go for it, but if you have neighbors -- do not pass go. Go directly to, uh, your arraignment.

No luck walking down and telling them that you usually appreciate their celebrations, but need a little quiet, huh?

My lawn, which is along the side, has a fence around it so no kids but I did catch one of the little girls next door attempting to pick a flower from the window box. I gave her the evil eye through the window and she ran off, no yelling necessary.
