Girlies' Day! [More:]
I had a lovely girly day today with gaspode, The Pink Superhero and rmless2. We ate great burgers for lunch (with waffle fries) and then watched half of the first (and, undoubtedly, the best) season of Bridezillas. Poor Steve-O arrived home after a hard week's work, no doubt ready for a beer, to find his living room taken over by women watching a show about weddings. He is such a sweetie he just let us get on with it, watching sport on the computer and playing with the baby. When we left, Maddie was snoring. So, so adorable.

Earlier this morning I went over to AA's General Service Office on Riverside Drive, which is an interesting place to visit if you're in recovery. The archives are fascinating.

And this morning on the 7 train I saw (and spoke to) my first New York celebrity. A minor celebrity, but someone I recognised and who was really a nice guy, Dave Martin from Top Chef. He's my favourite ever contestant from that show (we've only ever had seasons 1 and 2 in the UK).

Tonight Jason and I had a late supper at a Colombian restaurant, where we watched ECW wrestling - someone called Jack Swagger had the shit kicked out of him by Tommy Dreamer and this guy was pitted against someone about a quarter his size, who somehow managed to get him on the ground. It was the gayest thing I've seen in ages.

My holiday is almost over - I fly back to England on Sunday night. But it's ending with me being poorly - I have a UTI. The tablets I'm taking for it have turned my pee orange. I almost died of shock when I saw it, until I remembered the warning on the box that this would happen.
I want orange pee!

It was a fun afternoon!
Too bad you didn't see my favorite, chef Jeff. Actually, it's good you didn't because I would have DIED of jealousy.
Jeff... come back to me....

That was a lot of fun. Totally worth taking a mental health day for.

Aw... I started my vacation in Austin last week with a UTI. They really suck, worse for me than anyone else because mine have a habit of turning into kidney infections if I don't treat them quickly and mercilessly.

Sounds like a great time. Glad you're having such a fun trip.

Also, cranberry juice. By the gallon. Works like a hot damn.

Sounds fun. Sorry to hear about the UTI. Those are miserable beasts. If you need a place to go to get some antibiotics, the Emergency Room at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, at 25-10 30th Avenue, right off the N train 30th Ave. stop, is pretty good, and it's small, so the wait's not bad, and no appointment necessary, of course, since it's an ER. Beth Israel Medical Group also has some walk-in clinics in Manhattan, if you want to avoid an ER. One at 55 E. 34th Street, between Madison & Park (take the 6 train to the 33rd St. station), which I've been to and liked (they have limited hours on the weekend, though: 9-3 on Sat. and 9-2 on Sun.). There's another location in Chelsea at 202-204 W. 23rd St. that's 24 hours/7 days a week, but I haven't personally been to that location. Let me know if you would like any additional info., and I hope you're feeling better.
