THIS IS A REROUTING THREAD - Nervous driver getting from Scranton to Boston [More:] How bad is I-84 through Hartford to I-90 traffic wise? Would detouring north to Albany via I-87 be worth the extra 1 1/2 hours? I will already have been on the road from South Carolina via I-77 to I-81, and I plan to make this drive over three days. I am trying to avoid the I-95 corridor from DC to NYC. Thanks!
What time (and day, weekday or weekend matters) would you be approaching the Hudson River?

Right now, I am hoping to leave June 4, Thursday, but delaying it to Friday is quite possible. I would like to overnight in Scranton, and then finish the drive the next day.

Danbury is also giving me a bit of concern.

The I-87 drive is pretty and rarely high traffic. 84 is fine during hours that are NOT commuting times but pretty annoying and lame otherwise.
