Kitten whuffles needed You may remember (since it's all I ever post about) the kitten that my husband I found nearly freezing to death at the end of last year. As you may know, we rehabbed her and socialized her and she was doing great.

Unfortunately, she's really sick right now and needs some positive thoughts. →[More:]She stopped eating and got really lethargic over the past few days and we took her to the emergency vet yesterday. She's got fluid in her lungs and a fever and they kept her all day and overnight to give her fluids, antibiotics, etc. They can't really say for sure what it is.

The scary part is worst case scenario it could be Feline Infectious Peritonitis, which cannot be diagnosed and is fatal. Best case scenario is she got some sort of respiratory infection that spread to her lungs and will recover after antibiotics and supportive care.

I just started crying in the office kitchen talking about it to a friend - it's amazing how attached we've become to her. She's such a sweetheart. Please keep her in your thoughts. Many thanks.

One of our kitties had 14 seizures the other week and was in intensive care for a week. He's strangely doing just fine now. It's kind of impossible, but he's purring and winning kitty playfights and gaining weight and back to his old antics.

We were really really worried for a while though and did a lot of crying when things looked super-bad. The little bastards get right into your heart, don't they? Hopefully your Maddie will be as lucky as our Dune was!

Thank you so, so much everyone. heatherann, our girl is white and orange tabby so I'm hoping Dune's orange tabby mojo can help her get well too.

The good news is, her fever is down. But she's still not eating. The vet wants us to bring her home because they're worried she's not eating because she's freaked out from being at the vet. So we're bringing her home tonight.

The bad news is if we can't get her to eat at home, we'll have to bring her back tomorrow and they may have to insert a feeding tube and force feed her. :( My brother's cat recently went through something similar (unexplained anorexia, causing acute liver failure, had to do feeding tube) but pulled through. I'm hoping for the same for little Madeleine.

We keep beating ourselves up for not taking her in sooner, for stressing her out with changes to her food (switched from wet to dry) and introductions to our older cat that have not gone well (older cat is such an asshole), for every little thing. We just want to take it all back and have her get better. :(
