26 April 2009

It is a beautiful day today. [More:]
I cannot explain how utterly gorgeous the weather has been in my part of Florida. Every day is glorious, with a high around 81, breezy, with little humidity. Today the sky is so blue it is blinding. I should be outside right now. At the beach with a magazine and a Big Gulp. Soon it will be on the edge of unbearable. I am cherishing every day it is like this.

My big kid slept at a sleepover last night and got about two hours of sleep so we might stay in today. I don't think he is up for going out and about.

The kids just asked me what a Sloppy Joe was! Ha, what has happened to our public school lunch program? Growing up, Sloppy Joes were a staple. I might make them for dinner and introduce them to the finer things in life.

How is your day?
My day's okay. The weather here's lovely too, not as warm as Florida, but probably around 60, perfect for getting the washing dry. I've done six loads of laundry and dried everything on the line. I even folded it and put it away, which is a job I hate.

I went to Pets at Home earlier to buy cat food and wild bird food. The guinea pigs in there are adorable. I watched one fall asleep, in a little world of her own. So, so cute.

I wanted to go to the gym, too, but won't have time now, as I have a phone date in an hour.

I haven't had much contact with people today, just the sales staff in Pets at Home, Superdrug and the petrol station. This worries me sometimes.

The weather is good. It's around 80 at the moment, supposed to get up to 90 (record temp). 90 is too hot for me. I would be happy if the temperature never rose above 82 or so all summer. Haven't been outside yet - Sunday is my sleep-in day, so I didn't get up until 10am, and since then have just showered, played with the baby and put her (and mr. gaspode) down for a nap (baby's second nap of the day). I can hear them both snoring now.

As soon as they both wake up, we will head out for brunch.

Hot here, but low humidity, which is both a boon and a rarity. I got up and went to Waffle House (craving!), and then did some errands at Home Despot and Costco (contact lens solution, bug spray, a bathing suit and coffee). Mounded the soil around my potatoes, planted another tomato and ate some fudgcicles. (What? I had to make some room in the freezer!).

Yesterday was incredibly tiring and fab. I volunteered at the garden, then went on a hike, and then volunteered at a local dairy for a farm tour day. The farmers are a fabulous couple, and a couple of my close friends (who live next door to the farm) were there as well. Even though I went 6 hours in the direct sun, after also spending the earlier part of the day outside, I had a blast. After we wrapped up, my friends invited me to their house for dinner. They have a glut of asparagus, and I was fortunate enough to have them foist a good couple of pounds of it off on me. And the dairy gave me a nice ball of smoked fresh mozz.

So yeah, things are good here.

It's a gorgeous day here as well. Sunny as all get out and about 15c/60f. We're heading out to Petsmart for rat cage bedding and to take Kaylee for an outing. Not sure what we're going to do later.

Too hot here, 85 degrees before May. It's like we get three weeks of spring then it's straight into summer. *sweats*

Wow, stewriffic! That does sound like a fabulous day.

I went for a bike ride with the dog and then we (me and the kids) rode our bike to the park. It was beautiful.

I'm surprised other parts of the country are warmer. It's 78 here. It must be the sea breeze.

It's my birthday! Sunny and clear here, low 80s. Went to brunch this morning, and the museum in the afternoon. It has been a lovely day.

Happy Birthday, init!!!

Sunny, and gorgeous here. My kids helped me clear out our tool shed, level the ground under it (no more fighting the doors to open it!) and move it back. Then I set up a screen gazebo for my table and chairs, set up another gazebo for my hammock, and took a much needed shower! The inside of the house needs a little straightening, but that can happen later. I think I'll go back outside and enjoy the evening a bit.

It was a beautiful weekend. My kids had such a good time playing with each other in the back yard. It was a pleasure to see such joy.

I took Alice out for a bike ride as a dry run for a post-earth-day event they're doing at school next week. It's a nice 15 minute ride.

Happy birthday, initapplette!

It's nice to hear everyone having nice weekends and weather.

Happy Birthday, initapplette!

I took my lightweight raincoat and wore closed shoes because they said there would be thunderstorms. Not a peep so far, and I wish I had worn my sandals...but I did wear my linen manpris (haven't found any I like in the states yet). Movie glut, and I've become hooked on Number One Ladies. Trying to hash out with my father plans for my birthday weekend; he wants to see a play with my cousin the next Tuesday, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. I did go to the memorial service for my great-aunt eight years ago, but I refuse to be present at any ash-scattering if my mother is there (and she's already attended one). My dad wants to see his cousins in NJ on the weekend, but hasn't firmed up which day.

Straightened up the front hall and now have to tackle the office and dining room table before the floor can be refinished, but I have jury duty tomorrow and don't know how long it will last.

Pretty nice here in the Seattle area as well. It took a while for the day to make up its mind; big threatening clouds kept rolling in front of the sun. By late afternoon they were mostly gone and right now (6:30-ish) its absolutely beautiful. Low 60s (F) temp wise, perfect weather for a nice bicycle ride which is how I spent the afternoon. Now I'm waiting for salad and pizza to be delivered whilst quaffing Liberty Ale. Might move to the back porch once the eats arrive. Ah Sunday!

Yesterday was very pretty down in DC. I had some issues in the morning due to the previous evening's indulgences, but we all managed to make it down and do the sightseeing touristy thing. (I've never seen the WH in person before, so that was nifty.)
Everyone seemed to like the Hope Diamond, but I felt bad for forgetting that the Smithsonian closes at 530. Whoops!

And then my homie and I went to Outback because she had a giftcard and we got silly drunk, ate delicious food, and she tried out her Australian accent.
