Susan Boyled potatoes reminded me of [More:] Shopsin's Mac 'n' cheese pancakes. nom.
Tonight I learned that a restaurant in my town serves something called King Pancakes. This is two dinner-plate-sized pancakes. Inside the pancake batter there are chocolate chips and banana chunks. Sandwiched between the two pancakes there is a layer of peanut butter. On top of the pancakes is a fluffy pile of whipped cream. And sprinkled over the whipped cream is crumbled bacon.

Someday I will order that.

...I was fasting today.

It's technically tomorrow, now, right?

Ooooh can I be there when you order that, Miko?

notquietmaryann - i read your comment as

"i was farting today" instead of what you wrote... and i thought, "oh, then they've already had that dish..."

:)

typewriter, they have fake bacon if it's a vegetarian issue.

If it's a taste issue? Can't help you there. I'm sure they'd customize the topping though. Know what would be awesome on that instead? Spiced pecans.

Ugh, bananas in pancakes? Uh, no thanks!

How about creamed chipped beef on pancakes then, KoP, like they serve in Maryland. If you're ever in Damascus for breakfast, head for Tom & Ray's, best chipped beef on pancakes in the state.

What brought you through my hometown, Ardiril? I wonder if Tom & Ray's is still there.

Wait, you're from Damascus, MD, rainbaby? (did we have this conversation before? Did I ask you if you knew people I knew?)

gaspode: If you knew the local ballet teacher, then you knew my old gf's mom.
posted by Ardiril 23 April | 12:20
Well, one of the local ballet teachers. I see quite a few are listed. Way more than I figured for a town that size.

No, gaspode, just that I was from MD, I think I had said.

I wouldn't be surprised if I recongized your old gf's last name, Ardiril.

You guys can email me if you want.

Way more than I figured for a town that size.

Depending on how it's been since you were there, it may be a lot bigger than you remember. The sprawl is ever sprawling.

No doubt, danostu, it was much bigger than it was back in the day ten years ago, I can't imagine how sprawly it is now. Back in the day, we had a parade when the town got a McDonald's.

I was there for six months in 2002. I walked the trail almost every day, from the steep end all the way to the rec center and back. I had more than a few adventures on that trail, including a weird deer that followed me braying like a donkey.

Actually, tomorrow I am hanging out with a friend from Damascus (family has a decent sized farm on Damascus Rd). I love going to her family home to visit. Farm! Hayrides! Tractors! Border collies!
