Ticks! Help! →[More:]
Since Sunday, I've had weird little itchies. A sudden, very pinpointed sensation that goes away after scratching. I didn't notice bugs or anything until last night. There they were! They were tiny! I thought maybe they were baby fleas (which turn out not to exist), but no!
They're tick nymphs!
I must have gotten them while hiking** on Saturday! Now I'm freaking out a bit, because it turns out that the nymphs are the worst vectors of lyme disease. (Am supposed to watch for a rash, apparently.)
My question: Will normal shampoo get rid of any that might be hiding on my head, or do I need to break out some big guns? I have some witch hazel. I could rinse with that.
Suggestions? Calming thoughts?
**Or, rather, while not-hiking. After walking from the parking lot and down the trail for about 50 paces, I looked up and saw a rattlesnake nonchalantly crossing our path. So I said to the GF, "You know, I'm really into my book. I think I'm going to go sit at a picnic table and read. I'll meet you back at the car in two hours.
