American Shakespeare fans, set your DVRs! The Trevor Nunn production of King Lear with Ian McKellan is on Great Performances tonight.[More:]
I desperately tried (and failed) to get tickets when it was staged in L.A. a couple of years ago, so I've been waiting quite awhile for this. Huzzah!
Thanks for the heads up! I never would have known about this otherwise.

Now I just have to convince Mrs. Beese that this is more important than seeing who gets voted out of the goddamned tribe...

She loves Sir Ian - as any sensible person would - but she's nuts for that awful show.

Oooh, thanks.

I think I heard that Survivor is just a clip show tonight (I haven't watched it for a few seasons, so I can't confirm), so you may have the advantage!

...poo. Roommate won't be home to tape it for me. Ah well. Netflix will have it next month.

Is this a good time to very unsubtly mention that I have tickets to see Ian McKellen in Waiting for Godot next month? No? Oh and Patrick Stewart too?

My wife once died onstage with Ian McKellan in San Francisco. I'll leave it at that.

We still have only a VCR, so I had to go buy a pack of VHS tapes for tonight. The woman at Office Max was surprised that they still sold them.

OfficeMax and similar places will probably be among the last retail places to sell 'em, because of VHS-based security/surveillance systems.

You lucky(pozzo) bastard! I gnash my teeth in envy. Please post a review?

This statement is useless without pics.

Did anyone else catch Sylvester McCoy (aka Mr. 7th Doctor) as the Fool? Exquisite.
