Office superstitions In honor of Friday the 13th, I present the Office of Death.[More:]

When the company I work for had the whole floor (we now have .5) there was a particular office that became known as the Office of Death because every single person who occupied that space was terminated.

I don't mean quit, I definitely mean fired.

After a while, when re-orgs took place nobody would want that one office. The last person to have it bragged about not being superstitious (or even a little stitious). He lasted three months.

I put a biohazard sign on the office and it sat empty from that point on. When we subleased that area it was converted to a conference room, so the new occupants put an end to the horrors of that place. Maybe if we'd called Ghost Hunters it might have helped.
I'd like to change offices because mine is too dark in the morning. I was grumpy today because I found out that the empty office I covet is being held for a hypothetical higher-level person who may descend from the heavens at some point. I'm now going to assume that the vacant office is the Office of Death and that I dodged a bullet.

At a previous office, the building's second-nicest office, a corner office with huge windows, was empty the entire time I was there, except for a few months when they gave it to the summer intern (!). The previous program chief had used it, and she terrorized the other staff so much that they all had nasty awful memories of being chewed out in that office and so no one wanted to take it.

We have what I call the Exit Office. They either quit, get fired or retire. No matter what, they leave within a few months. Funny to hear there is more than one.
