A nice place close by to your house? [More:]I have this park about 5 minutes drive from my place, and I just love the morning walks there. Right now, me and my mom are doing it on our own, but hopefully by the end of this month, I'll be able to do it by myself, Amen to that.
There's a little park near my house...woods with a little trail through. To get there you go through a suburbanish housing development, so it's a nice surprise. The first time I explored it, I came out on the edge of the water, a beautiful cove with pine trees around it. It was a big shock - wow! SO beautiful, right here! I live in MAINE!

Walking distance from downtown Juneau is "The Flume" a favorite of locals luckily pretty much tourist-free.

I'm lucky. I live practically in the city - which I love, but the view from our windows are the botanical gardens. A huge couple of parks, and lot of trees and used-to-be-grass.

See the big forested hill in this flickr pic (not mine)? That's Ardittou Hill and we live right beside it. It's my favorite wonderful secret place. It's green and quiet and private and gorgeous... there aren't even any photos of the inside that I've been able to find on the internet, except this one, which doesn't show much, but does show a view of the Acropolis from the hill. The only people who know about it are us and the aliens (scroll down to highlighted bit).

I swear I'm going to take some pix this week.

We also live very close to the Greek National Gardens.

I'm going to be boastful for a few moments.

There's a reason they call Yorkshire "Gods own County." And Calderdale is like The Best Of Yorkshire. There's greenery, fantastic views, great parks and superb architecture everywhere you go.

I mean - This is where I work

And here's the park outside my house.

And lets not forget this ghostly and LOTR'esqe Folly looming out of the morning mist.

The West Park section of Allegheny Commons starts a block down the street. Here's a shot from now and one from a hundred years ago. During the summer, you can walk over and get a snow cone from Guss and Yaya's cart that's been parked in the same spot in the park since 1934.

I wonder if your aliens know our aliens?

My favourite local place is the Gold Coast Seaway. We regularly take the kids down there for swimming, fishing and general mucking about. As far as beach-type locations go, it has everything - calm water for kids to swim in and to (usually not, but who cares) catch fish, surf beaches, diving and just lying on the sand doing nothing.

By the Grace of God, no I haven't been that lucky so as to see one of those beautiful cats, but, yeah, we see Peacocks every day, flying, and in a bunch, making their loud Peacock noises, and shrugging their wings around for all of us to see... they look so beautiful, compared to the Peahen's, and boy do they rub it in their faces... poor Peahens.

Wow, such nice pics--you all live in such beautiful places... taz, that hill looks like an Oasis in the desert, man what a view you must have from the top!

Well, I live 2 blocks from Central Park (my photos), which is always nice.

This is right across the street from my house. They have a neat sheep-shearing festival every year.

Oh God podey, those photos make me ache for NY.

Central Park can do that to you.
