Fill in the blank You know a friend is getting into the clutches of MLM schemes when…[More:]

They keep inviting you to seminars and "webinars" but you can't figure out what they do these days.

They tweet about using and selling services and products that don't seem to be related to each other closely enough for it to be an actual job.

They're good enough to get the digits of absolute strangers but only use them to call back and ask about whether said person is ready to start a business yet.
(slight derail here):

There were so many people doing MLM stuff at my last job that I thought the actual firm was giving MLM stuff out as one of the perks or benefits.

BOB OR SUE GENERIC OFFICE DRONE: "Hey Bob/Sue - have you finished that report/heard back about that project-related deadline/answered my e-mail?"

BOBSUE: "No LT, but I noticed you were tired this morning, let me show you this amazing line of vitamins I know about...a bunch of people here use 'em."

LT: "...."

I'm assuming that MLM means Multi-level marketing? I never heard that term before.

Heh. When Weekenders, Inc. announced that they were closing (actually they had pretty good clothes), every single comment in the article was along the lines of "Now that Weekenders has closed, I just know that you'd love to check out X's clothes too, at my website www....".

When they start making derogatory comments about people who are "content to settle" and "don't have the ambition to be their own boss".

When they are casual acquaintances who you've known for ages but not socialised with, and they suddenly invite you to a get-together.
