That cool red-and-blue Obama poster created by Shepard Fairey was based on a Reuters photo of Obama. Interestingly, the poster is actually a mirror image of Obama, flipped left-to-right. →[More:] There are a LOT of people you couldn't do that to without making them look really different, due to their having asymmetrical facial features, or an asymmetrical hairstyle.

Could Obama be our first perfectly symmetrical president?

Apropos of very little, there was a piece in this week's New Yorker of a photo/interview with the Obamas. Apparently the interview was done before his political career began.

I didn't realize that the poster was done by Fairey, although I thought it was very intentionally referential to his work! I guess I should be more curious about stuff like that.

He'd have to have his mole removed to be 100% symmetrical.

Or attach a fake one on the other side of his nose.

Yeah, I was going to point out the mole thing. It appears Shepard Fairey left it off. As someone who also has a distinctive mole on the face, I say that was a bogus choice. Man, it's part of who we are!

Well, if we take that the manipulated image isn't supposed to be a mirror image (although it technically is), then the mole would be hidden in the crease of his nose.
