Today's lesson is: Always Take Before Photos (caps for emphasis).[More:]Because I just did some beautiful fancypants patching of a huge crack on the curve of a cove ceiling, and now none of you will know how lovely it is. Much as I know you're champing at the bit for photos of a fixed ceiling, without the 'before' photos they just don't have that je ne sais quoi, you know?
Don't you HATE when you forget to take "before" pics?? I've done this a few times. Ugh! So frustrating.

I still want to see the fixed version of your ceiling, though.

Okay, picture a stairwell with a cove ceiling on one side, and a sticky-outy corner at the top of the steps. Now picture that whole curve, sticky-outy bit and all...with no crack in it. None!

(But seriously, BoPo, you're so sweet. Be careful what you wish for. I had to seriously tweak the contrast so you could see what the hell's going on, but here you go.)

Smooth as a baby's bum, if I do say so myself, and invisible now the paint's on it. Mesh taped so the crack won't come back. Don't you love shop talk?

Nice work!

OK, that is sweet. I live in a house with ceiling issues (you probably noticed!) but luckily they're all flat... I am seriously going to pick your brain at some point in the next year because I'm clueless about making patches look smooth. Actually, I'm clueless about any kind of repair... I know how to paint, that's it.

The angles and roundness in your pic scare the hell out of me. I'd have sold the house, with a strategically placed umbrella in the room. Good job.

Honey, I'm heading back south in a month or less, and I'd be happy to help you guys out with your ceilings. Especially if I get to stay over!

And thanks, gomichild! *beams* It's the most technically difficult thing I've done so far, so I can't stop babbling about it.
