Time flies [More:]This morning I was thinking it's been about 12 years on the nose I've been waking up with the same bod beside me every morning. It's one constant I've been glad of through a lot of changes. And she's still in fairly fine fettle, but it's weird thinking of a future time when that will have changed, too.

So I was already in a bit of a pensive mood when I read today's Ozy and Millie, which is the end of the line for another decade-long constant.

Hm.
A really good friend of mine and I realized yesterday that we've been friends for over 10 years now. It's about 1/3 of his life, and 1/4 of mine. He's going through a hard time, and I've been happy to be there to help him as much as I can--which is really just by keeping him company and listening. Time really does fly; it's nice to sit back sometimes and contemplate that.

Heh, I was thinking about this the other day, having just passed the 14-year mark with my partner. Almost 23 years since my eldest daughter was born.

Yeah, time flies, but I'm not so sure that's a good thing sometimes. It would be nice at times to have more time to sit and contemplate things, but we're so busy doing stuff that we often don't really have time to do that.

Time flies like an arrow.
Fruit flies like a banana.

I can't believe I've been out of college for 20 years. That I've played the trumpet for nearly 33 years. That I've written software for 28 years. That I'm still in contact with people from across the decades.

Oh, gosh - I was also thinking about this just the other day, realising it will be 14 years (in January) since I started uni and 10 years since I was a full-time student (and got a real job).

I still feel like a kid, most of the time. Time flies, and this year has flown by especially fast.

I reconnected with a couple of friends through Facebook who I realized that I've known for 38 years. I lived in the same town my whole childhood so I graduated from high school with a lot of the kids who I started first grade with. So a couple of buddies that I reconnected with, I first met in 1970.

One of many reasons I haven't joined Facebook.

I'm the same age my mother in law was when we got married 15 years ago. She'd become a grandmother the year before.

This year I really was old enough to be the student workers' mother.
