18 December 2008

Finally got some wedding pictures up [More:]For some reason my head is tilted to the left in every single shot.

I split it up into pre-ceremony, ceremony, and reception, because the pre-ceremony ones feature those wedding photo memes that y'all hate.
Lovely.

I LOVE this one! great, great set - everything looks so sunny and colorful. Your photographer did so well - these have the depth and sharpness of film photography, but I assume they're digital?

I agree with mudpuppie. That is one of the happiest sets of wedding pics I have seen.

Nice, everyone looks great. I'm jealous that you live somewhere where you could have an outdoor wedding, it poured rain during our Wedding.

Thanks everyone. The weather was beautiful (clear air despite the usual forest fires, a little rain during dinner so it wasn't TOO sunny) and our photographer was great, too. The one bad part was that MuddDude and I got pretty drunk by the end of the night and the ride back up the mountain from the lake in the limo was not fun at all.

Also, my dress got really dirty from walking in the woods!

How lovely. Was gonna come in here and comment on how much I loved the tiny veil, but I see it's been done.

Sweet fancy whatnot, you two are a handsome couple! It looks like a beautiful day, muddgirl!

Now it's brass tacks time: please tell about the tiny veil. Did you make it yourself? Find it in a shop? What's a veil like that called, to make it easier to find ...if, say, someone liked it so much she wanted to shamelessly rip you off and wear one in her wedding.

Oh, I just saw the dancing pics! So swirly, so graceful!

The veil is kind of a small birdcage veil, and the flower piece is called a fascinator. There are a bunch of stores and etsy shops that make awesome veils and fascinators, but I wanted something very specific (and I procrastinated :) so I ended up making it by myself, along with hairpieces for the other girls. I bought clear combs and fake flowers and ribbon from Hobby Lobby, and the netting and feathers and glue from an online millinery supply store. I looked at a bunch of examples online, then just sort of draped and glued until it looked OK (I finished all 4 pieces the night before we left for Tahoe). I followed this tutorial, too. (Honestly, if you just want the veil and not the flower fascinator piece, you could just buy the veiling from a millinery supply store and drape and pin it with bobby pins).

The etsy stores I looked at were primarily qgdesigns, kisscurl, Butterfly Enchantress. I think they all do custom ones (and the time to order is now because they were all booked when I started looking during the summer.

You are a freaking genius, and generous, too. Thanks so much for the explanation and all the links!

I haven't been warming up to fascinators, but yours is lovely. And you look lovely in it.

Dude, I am doing my best to convert every bride in the world to the Order of Cute Tiny Veils. They are so charming.
