You know chocolate turtles? You know how they're awesome?[More:]

And you know spiced pecans? And how they, too, are awesome?

Well, lately I've been thinking that two awesomes might make a double awesome. I'm not one to mess with tradition, and my grandma's pecan turtles were nonpareil, but I just don't see how a chili-and-cayenne-spiced-pecan-and-chocolate turtle can ever be a bad thing.

I'll report back.
I remember cayenne-laced chocolate sold in convenience stores the first time I lived in Vegas in 1984 and it still is. As for pecans, their flavor may be too subtle to emerge through both chocolate and pepper. Very much worth a try though.

Holy craptastic that sounds good. Salty and spicy and glazed, with chocolate and buttery caramel.

Yes, chile chocolate has been trendy for a long time and certainly has ancient roots.... and chile-spiced pecans are classic, but I have yet to see them combined. I can't imagine the flavor of a pecan being lost, especially when lightly roasted, but a lightish spice coating is probably called for - not as much as used for spice pecans.,

I believe that only a talking chili-and-cayenne-spiced-pecan-and-chocolate turtle can be more awesome.

Especially if that talking choco turtle could dispense wisdom and teach you things about your world.

It could very well just be me because a lot of flavors mask my taste for pecans. For instance, I cannot taste them in the usual pecan pie.

Oh, man. That is a shame!

Talking chocolate pecan turtles all the way down!

Out of the goodness of my heart, I volunteer for the tasting panel. I mean, if I must.

(You reminded me, just in time: one batch of my Christmas caramel corn is going to be chili-spiced this year. Yee ha!)

You just made me realize that I have to make some rum truffles. Every time I make them for the holidays, I remember making them as a kid -- when my father measured out the rum. He poured some back in the bottle, because a splash had overflowed. I still use the same recipe and I still laugh at how tight he was with that rum ... :-)

That's funny! I just made spiced pecans with cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne, and salt yesterday.
They came out really well and I am debating whether I am going to just keep and eat them all or bring them to people like I was supposed to.
