Wheeeeeeeeeee!

I was once in the bush with my Mum and brother and we accidentally got between a wombat and his burrow. He was very put out by that! Plus those buggers can move like lightening when they want and sounds like thunder when running underground.

Also it can hurt to fall down into one of their tunnels.

I don't think I've ever seen a wombat outside of a zoo - we don't have wild ones in the UK. But mr alto calls me 'wombat' sometimes :)

My friend's parents cared for a baby wombat for about three months when we were little - bubba wom, we called him. He was soo cute. They have very hard plates at the base of the back that sound hollow when you knock on them, did you know? Heh.

They also have very sharp, strong claws, as I discovered after falling down an occupied wombat hole. Bloody bastard.
