Music for your Friday: My first stab at making a mix on 8tracks.com, as suggested by ethylene and Zack_Replica. Today being a rainy, foggy day, I tried to pick songs to suit the mood. (Also, there are 9 tracks... apparently it doesn't limit you to 8, despite the name.)[More:]

If you listen to it, let me know how it works for you and if you have any technical problems.
All I can say, BoPo is that each time you upload music it always hits the spot. Thanks so much. :)

Aw, thanks LP!

"Unable to play this mix. Please try again."

Are there limits on the number of simultaneous listeners, or the number of plays?

I got the same error message as initaplette.

Hmmm... not that I know of.

I had trouble getting it to work in Firefox at first. It worked in IE, then the next time I tried it in Firefox again, it worked in Firefox.

Ok, so this is definitely not as error-proof as muxtape was. :/

Works fine in Safari. Oops. now it doesn't. Wait! Now it does again. Internet belch.

Good stuff! Other than interface-wise, how does this differ from muxtape, asked the man too lazy to figure it out for himself?

I has made one too. Because I wish to be more like BoPo.

It has some Drive-By Truckers, Dexateens, Dan Sartain, Glossary, and Through The Sparks.

(The DBT tracks are soundboard bootlegs from the 2006 homecoming show at The Alabama Theater in Birmingham. Awesome.)

It's here.

For the record, i haven't used 8tracks at all, but i really wanted something to fill the muxtape shaped hole in my heart.
"Come back, Muxtape, come back!"

I've been waiting all day to listen to this.

I got the same error - Unable to play this mix. Please try again. I'm using NoScript and it ran after I'd allowed http://ajax.googleapis.com. Using Firefox 3.0.3, NoScript 1.7.7.
Now Radio Metachat's gone daddy gone, I'll have to update 8tracks more often. Also planning to make a few downloadable mixes of goth stuff for Hallowe'en.

It played fine for me, FF2, mac.

I tried listening. It wasn't working in FF2 [unable to play this mix, please try again. undefined], so I tried IE7. That worked better (had to exit FF entirely), but the songs would stop randomly in the middle. What I got sounded good though, especially that Robyn Hitchcock song...

Damn. It works fine for me in FF3, so it sucks that it doesn't work for everybody. (Like Muxtape used to... grrrrr.)

Works fine in Opera.

A fair amount of flash stuff doesn't seem to work for me. I imagine it's flash-block, or ad-block or some other plugin that gets in the way. But when that happens, it always works in IE. Except this time...
