Instant karma's going to get you. [More:]

GOP delegate Gabriel Nathan Schwartz, being interviewed at the convention:
Schwartz was candid about how he envisioned change under a McCain presidency.

"Less taxes and more war," he said, smiling. He said the U.S. should "bomb the hell" out of Iran because the country threatens Israel.

Then he picked up a young woman at the hotel bar, took her back to his room, let her fix him a drink, and regained consciousness later to find she'd robbed him to the tune of $120,000.
And how is a belt worth $1000?

I wonder if it was random or was he targeted? Or a hoax!

And how is a belt worth $1000?

It was genuine third-world orphan hide.

$1500 cell phone?

Were the belt and earrings his? For the off hours, maybe?

I'm not against accessories for men, but when a man travels with more than $50,000 worth.... I dunno.

$4000 earrings would be a bit gaudy on a man, I think. Also, I'm pretty big on tolerating different political opinions, but...Good Lord, what an asshole.

Someone stole your change.

and a $1500 cell phone? at that price it better come with a supermodel to dial it for you.

at that price it better come with a supermodel to dial it for you.

Or to beat you with it.

scody, this jagoff sounds like the type who would enjoy that.

$50,000 worth of accessories seems perfectly reasonable for a man who is employed in the gangsta-rap industry.

I'm definitely leaning toward "he's lying". I think that has become my default reaction to Republicans.

He managed to get himself into the press at least three times during (and after) the convention, with one of those stories being about how fabulously rich he apparently is.

He is a lonely, lonely man desperate for attention and approval.

Actually, let me rephrase that:

GOP delegate Gabriel Nathan Schwartz is a lonely, lonely man desperate for attention and approval.

Good. Now when he Googles himself, he might see that I said that.

*waves*

He ought to enlist if he loves war so much. He had was wearing 50 grand, and can only afford a 319 dollar hotel room?

And christ, what an asshole. Sad that he's from Denver too, but then there are plenty of assholes out here. Myself included.

Oh, and to see the video, here it is at a blog . I dunno about you, but smarmy comes to mind...
posted by eekacat 16 September | 14:50
I watched the video, and my first thought is..maybe the other Republicans set him up so they could cut him loose since he's such an embarssingly stupid prick.
posted by jonmc 16 September | 14:53
Wait a second. I've seen that guy before. I can't remember where, though.

He's a total plant.

"I was drugged and had about $50,000 of personal items stolen, not the inflated number that the media is reporting from an inaccurate police report."

Jeez, I hope the media attention this story receives doesn't bring to light that Gabriel Nathan Schwartz filed a false police report filled with inflated figures just to rip off his insurance company. Because, while I'm not a hotshot lawyer, I think that might be illegal.

What? Gabriel Nathan Schwartz filed a false police report filled with inflated figures just to rip off his insurance company? That's not change we can believe in!
posted by scody 16 September | 15:33
Well, now, since Schwartz is, I'm told, a powerful lawyer and active in Republican politics, I think it's important to make this clear: I'm not saying for certain that Gabriel Nelson Schwartz filed a false police report filled with inflated figures just to rip off his insurance company. It does, however, seem like the most likely explanation for the apparent $70,000 discrepancy.

hm, I wonder if someone's gaming the system here...

Just watched the video. I for one think Gabriel Nathan Schwartz is just adorable. That smirk just lights up the room.

He said nucular! omg so cute!

I may as well admit this now. I am the woman whom Gabriel Nathan Schwartz met in that bar, and he drugged me. The next morning I woke up to find all this costume jewelry stuffed in my purse, and the belt was Parda.
