Darn you, Hannah! I don't have TIME for a tropical storm right this minute.[More:]

I'm making chocolate chip cookies in the middle of the night, listening to the rain and waiting for my son to get here. He should be here in an hour or so.

Tomorrow he gets up and drives to the town where his friend is getting married. After that he has to go straight back to Alabama, then in a week or so he leaves for Wyoming.

The storm is weebling and wobbling straight. here. Argh.
This is going to sound dumb, but are tropical storms bad, or just a bad windy rainstorm that might knock the power out? (The only water I've ever lived near is the Niagara River, which barely counts as water anyways, so I have zip experience with hurricanes and their ilk).

In any case, be careful. And hey, you may get more time with your son if the weather is too iffy for him to drive to Alabama. ;)

I had teh gay sex here today in an effort to draw the storm our way, but no dice... apparently God is more pissed at y'all this week than He is at us. Looks like it'll miss Georgia completely. What ARE you up to over there?

It's such a nice evening we shut off the A/C and opened all the windows.

I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best... His wrath is so random, though. It's like the weather.

The USAF won't give a rat's hiney about weather. I am surprised they let him drive up here. (He's at an officer's school at Maxwell right now.) And tomorrow night he'll be spending the night with his old high school buddies, all of which are now gainfully employed grownups.

Tropical storms are like "hurricane lite." We've already had a bunch of rain in the area so tropical force winds might be enough to push down a few pine trees. The main concern is ....tornadoes.

I am really, really, not thinking about that.

OTOH apparently the mall will be open tomorrow as usual, so how bad could it be?

nah, I think god likes gay people these days. the last storm we had left most of the city without electricity for 2 weeks. except for the gay neighborhood.

Also, it's Hanna, not Hannah. This might be why your prayers aren't working.

heh kellydammit. Lots-o-rain and breezitude here in Raleigh. Looks like your neck of the wood is flooding, bunnyfire. Our mall is flooded, so don't come here to shop. :) We had a brief power outage this morning and winds are supposed to kick in shortly.

Otto think sit's great and loves water and wetness. He was slightly confused by teh flashlights, however.

Hang tough VA bunnies.

My parents and siblings were in the path of Fay earlier this year, bunnyfire. I keep the RSS feeds going on all the storms when they hit the middle of the Atlantic.

Your son make it ok?

Not too bad here, but getting ready for the wind phase in the next four hours, so shutting down the computer and a/c.

A bit west of you, I had a wee part of my bathroom ceiling caving in from the rain. Other than that, it was just a lot of rain.

chewie-- you're in raleigh???? Otto is just 25 miles from me????

(Sorry, I have a slightly overwhelming love of doggies. It's cool that *you* are close by, too.)

Is there an oddly large number of North Carolinians on here?

We're getting lots of rain over here later. Rain in NYC is particularly cruel- we're pedestrians! I can't take shelter in my car! Have mercy!

Son made it in safe and sound. We ate cookies, yakked...I went to bed a little after 3. He left to get to Wilson to the wedding this morning.

He will be stopping by briefly on Sunday, which is good.

Meanwhile, as far as I can tell we mostly just got rain. Even my hub's political signs in the front yard stayed in place. NC needed the moisture, so we're good.

Oh, and that mall in Raleigh floods every time we have a storm. Heh.

Oh, someone go tell Essexjan-they are projecting Hanna to go all the way over to Great Britain. I am not kidding.
posted by bunnyfire 06 September | 12:42
Oh no! There's nobody I can have teh gay sex with to make it go away!

Non event here. Stewriffic, I didn't know you were in our (chewata, me - VA) neck of the woods.

Mercy was had on NYC! At least on me. We must have been inside for most of the awful rains. And now it's pretty much gone! Although there was a tree that lost a big branch nearby.
