Put my sweet Emma down last night... [More:]It's been a rather rough 14 hours. She was an 18 y.o. kitty and we knew it was coming, but it was really sad to see her go. We got home around 11 last night and she had just started the convulsions. So, in some sense, it was really nice that we got to spend some time with her and say goodbye. I really wanted to hold her little paw as she faded away, like I got to do with my old dog 25 years ago, but the doctor came in and said she was gone the second they put the catheter in. She was a real trooper and I'm amazed she lived as long as she did.

Interesting little factoids - the Doctor's name was also Emma, and the confirmation number on the credit card transaction was the birth date of the receptionist.
Yuck, hellbient. I'm so sorry.

Wishing you, and Emma, the best.

She's the rather rough looking b&w in this pic, taken about a week ago:

Awww, I'm so sorry. She looks a lot like my old cat, Bella. 18 years is a long, long life for a kitty. You did good.

I am sorry.

One of our cats, in the prime of his life, tested positive for leukemia, even though he's been vaccinated for it from the get-go. We are nursing him and trying to get him stronger, so that, hopefully, he'll be an indoor cat with this chronic condition, rather than going quickly.

But death sucks, whether it's pets of people. . .

So sorry, Hellbient. Emma looks like a real sweetie and a definite character, and she was fortunate to have y'all there to give her a long life of being loved so well.

:( I'm sorry, Hellbient.

18 seems to be about the age. My mom's irascible old tom, Jack, lived until his 19th birthday (exactly, almost to the hour), and my old cat Shakes was 17 or so when he died. Shakes looked a lot like Emma...

Aw, hellbient. I had to put a cat down after 19 years, and they're part of the family (only the second time I'd ever seen my father cry). My best wishes to your family, and the white kitty.

I'm really sorry, Hellbient. I'm looking at my own furball and can't imagine life without her. Take care of yourself.
