Why is no one talking about this? W.T.F.?? Family values party?! The very brief article says:
"Who knew there were rednecks in Alaska?[More:]

Apparently there are, according to Levi Johnston, the guy who impregnated the daughter of GOP veep nominee Sarah Palin. He says so himself, on his MySpace page (which is now offline): "I'm a f***in' redneck," he wrote. "I live to play hockey ... I'll kick ass." Somewhat more troubling for 17-year-old Bristol Palin is the following: "I don't want kids." (Of course, what 18 year old really does?)

Gov. Palin and her family announced yesterday that Bristol is pregnant, dispelling rumors Sarah's four-month old was in fact Bristol's."
I'M SO GLAD WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THIS EVERY SINGLE DAY

Are you joking?

TPS, did you already hear that Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol is pregnant?

I didn't just hear, I was there, if you know what I mean ::wink wink nudge nudge, hands out cigars::

/me cries

1. Everyone is talking about this. Non stop.

2. I agree with Obama's statement that families, and especially children, should be off-limits.

Did I briefly think to myself "Well now, this is where abstinence-only education gets you, conservatives?" Yes. But I don't really see how this is a big deal. Girls get pregnant out of wedlock and keep the babies and marry the immature fathers all the time.

I'm just sick of conservatives holding the Palins up as some ideal paragon of family values morality whatever, and all the "see, she's not aborting the baby like all the eeevil libruls would!" Good for you, lady, but that in itself doesn't make you any better or worse than the rest of us.

If it had been Obama or Biden's kid who was pregnant, there wouldn't be a clean pair of pants at the GOP convention. WHERE IS YOUR MORAL OUTRAGE NOW?

IOKIYAR

Just imagine the shitfit if Michelle had a baby out of wedlock when she was a kid, even if she then finished law school.

What I want to know is, do righties blunder into these things completely accidentally (Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Vito Fossella, etc.) or do they have an office devoted to careful development by focus group? "This one will get the lefties in a lather! Ha!"

Indeed, that's the very foundation of the Republican party.

Doh! Rimshot! Point, konolia.

Hey look! Issues!

And there is something to konolia's point. People ripping the mother/daughter up are just strengthening the resolve of those who are now going to vote for McCain/Palin. I've got family up in the Pacific Northwest and in the rural parts, it's not at all unusual for pregnancies and marriages at 16 and 17. One of my cousins stood out because she finished high school before getting married.

So, yes, hypocrisy is important, but not an unusual feature in a politician or political party. I'd rather talk about governance.

Who knew there were rednecks in Alaska?

I was in NY State six weeks ago and was SHOCKED to find rednecks there. Camo-wearin', jacked-up-pickup-havin' authentic rednecks. I remember turning to my wife at one point and saying "They can't get the barbecue right, but THIS is just like home."

I believe David Cross does a stand-up bit about that very fact, middleclasstool.

Enough already. Chewie has asked that this post be deleted, and I'd do that if I didn't think there'd be a bunch of new posts asking why it had disappeared.

So I'm closing it instead. If you've a problem with this, email me.
