Fun Fun Fun, indeed. The lineup for this November's Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin was recently released. I'd pay the $60 for stage three alone.[More:]Any Texas (or mid-south) MeChatters thinking of going? A buddy of mine and I are already starting to make plans to come down from Dallas.
I don't know any of those bands. Ok, an exaggeration - I know, like, 3 of those bands. But I DO want to see Deerhoof.

Bands on this list that I thought were long gone: Adolescents, Flipper, Dead Milkmen, DOA, CroMags, Killdozer.

Everything old is evidently new again. A cursory check of Wikipedia shows that Flipper's guitar player, Ted Falconi, is 60 FUCKING YEARS OLD.

Holy shit.

That looks like an awesome line-up, though. Yay Centro-Matic.

But I DO want to see Deerhoof.

It may be worth checking to see if they're playing elsewhere around TX around those dates. I can usually catch all of the bands I want to see that are playing SXSW or ACL when they hit Dallas either before or after the festivals without having to pay an arm and a leg for a badge. There's a decent chance they'll be playing either SA or maybe Houston on either side of this festival, if they're the only band you're intrigued by.

Well, at least he's still alive. I'm not sure how they'll be without Will Shatter.

Speaking of, given that it's Austin, I'd've loved to see the Big Boys at this festival, were it not for Biscuit Turner's passing a few years back. Sigh.

And on the topic of early Austin-era H.C., how did they not land MDC for this gig? Dave Dictor's still around, and touring with them as best I can tell. Seems like they would've fit in perfectly.

Still, it's a pretty solid lineup, and I hope our plans come to fruition.

Yeah, they're playing Houston and Dallas, which are much farther away than Austin, and the Houston show is on a weeknight. Le sigh. It's hard to live in South Texas, keep a 9-5 job, AND go to shows.

Well, to be fair, that's what you get for living in a city with a sewer-walk, over-rated Tex/Mex and a basketball team full of complete hacks.

Okay, that's not fair. I'll admit it. But I have to. It's obligatory per the legal-print of my Mavericks 10-game ticket plan.

I'll trade you a Radiohead @ Outside Lands festival for Bouncing Souls @ Fun^3, whaddaya say?

This weekend is going to be a flippin' zoo in SF. sigh.

I hear that, Triode. I've been to GGPark during a festival (Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, in '06) and it was a massive clusterfuck. Granted, it was free, but I sat through about thirty minutes of Billy Bragg's set and then had to leave. I just couldn't take it anymore.

Looks like they have a great lineup for Outside Lands, but you couldn't pay me to be there. I hope to hell that FunFunFun isn't that painful.
