Being a godfather is dangerous when you're at the mall. I bought my godson some books today:[More:]

Make Way for Ducklings and People. I bought my godson's brother three romper-type outfits (80% off at Carter's - $3 a piece!)

I have to mail these things to Latvia. Maybe I'll wait until I'm in Poland to send them - that way they don't get hit with customs fees. The suitcase continues to fill up. I'll just have to wear my winter coat on the plane.

If I have my own kids someday, I'm kind of afraid I'll just spend my whole paycheck at the bookstore and we'll have to live in a box. Which will already be full of books.
mdonley, it's fun buying for kids, isn't it? Especially kids that aren't yours. I give my kids the speech my mother did before we go into a store. "Don't ask me for one thing in this store."

Of course, I never deny them books. That is the one thing they do get on a regular basis, whether they like it or not.

are you sure there's custom fees on books? you have to pay to get CDs and DVDs and clothes and stuff, but books are usually exempt, you might check.
