Rowers and athletes, fix my blisters! I have two popped blisters on my thumbs and crew practice tonight. Help![More:] I know the oars are going to eat right into the raw skin if I don't do something, but all my experience has been with dance classes with a week between them so I have no clue what to do. Liquid bandage? Blister band-aids? I'm worried that anything very solid is going to get rubbed off and anything not-very-solid is not going to do anything (and get rubbed off). Suggestions welcome. There's a Rite-Aid and a Walgreens within walking distance.
Band-Aid Blister gels. Seriously, those things are awesome.

Tape over 'em, tho, they tend not to stick very well. They're basically a little Tegaderm patch in the correct shape.

They come in a silver box and they're kinda expensive but they really do work.

oh, and I've found that the best tape to use is the micropore white paper tape, as it breathes much better than the old-school solid tape, plus it's a little more flexible. You should be able to find it at Walgreens. I use the 1/2" wide for securing blister gels on hands/fingers.

Though my experience has been more with shoes that attack my feet rather than oars, I agree with the Band-Aid Blister things and with the suggestion to tape over them. Then you get some cushioning as well as some durability.

I went with blister bandaids and coach's tape on top, which worked pretty well although I now have horrible white sticky stuff where the edges of the tape were. The existing blisters are fine! But they got some new happy buddies!

Fuckers.
