do you have a nemesis? [More:]

I do. Full disclosure: for the past few years I've really been working hard on being less judgemental and shallow, more accommodating, and to resist the temptation to be catty, snarky and trivial.

My personal nemesis is an individual with whom I have semi-regular contact. For whatever reason, Nemesis is able to push Every.Last.One of my buttons so that I am unable to resist doing a combination of, or all of the above.

*sigh* People sometimes kind of suck, no matter how much I try not to fall into that thought pattern.

What's your nemesis?

my honest-to-god nemesis is the handmade coconut ice cream at Chana Thai but since the mister's taking me there for dinner tonight I'll settle for the Nemesis who takes me from Zero to Bitch in .03 nanoseconds
These days, I think it's pretty clearly myself.

I don't have one, but my cats do.

gaspode is my nemesis, but I'm the good guy. She wanted to be the one who got to do the evil laugh.

I totally had a nemesis in college, and when I went to a recent reunion, I swore up and down that we were going to bury the hatchet.

But the dude remained such a DICK.

So, yes, I guess I still do.

TPS has it. I was pining for a nemesis last week and she stepped up.

No, I don't. There are people that I'll avoid like the plague, but since I'm pretty successful in avoiding them I don't think they'd count as nemesis.

Ice Cream. Seriously. No joke. I am Ice Cream's Bitch. If it told me lick its boots I would.

Beeps, I only *wish* I could avoid this character. Sadly, it is not to be.

I don't have a nemesis.

I think I'm too air headed to have one. Six months ago I was late to work. It was a misunderstanding. I didn't think I had to work, but I did. To make a long story short, I got there and all was well. A couple days later a somewhat miserable secretary that I work with said to me, "I'm so happy you came to work today, Lori." I thought that was sweet and said, "Thanks, Jane. I'm glad you're here too." I realized a few minutes later that she was being sarcastic and rubbing in the fact that I was late once. She was never sarcastic to me again. This is why I can't have a nemesis. I'm either air-headed or think people have good intentions.

I dunno. I seem to have ticked quite a few people off, leading to very weird situations for me when meeting strangers. For example, at reboot7 some dude I had never seen or heard of came right up, sat down in front of me and asked bluntly "Why do you hate X?" ...eh? I couldn't do anything but giggle at him - possibly due to love-hormones since I was five months pregnant and just thought it seemed such a hilarious flashback to highschool. Then X sat down next to him and basically cornered me, so I clarified that I never said such a thing to him or anyone else and asked on what did he base that idea on? He weaseled away from answering that properly, and being all lovy-dovy I didn't pressure, instead I just constantly giggled at the whole "badass" situation because it struck me as so weird yaknow - but I reckon that guy might have just become my nemesis at that moment. See, now, when Im not knocked up that whole situation pisses me off to no end and I wish I was back there to just slap him.

Full disclosure though: X basically was quite good at using my help at one point, so I was indeed quite annoyed with him and his needyness at one time. That one the other hand was three years before reboot7 which made that situation so much weirder.

I have a nemesis at work, too. We have an uneasy truce that we will tolerate each other, but we have never, and will never, like each other.

I did, but then I killed him with brownies. True story.

I had a nemesis at my past job; she worked in our Canadian office. I always found myself seething with rage any time I interacted with her. And I spent a huge amount of time getting entirely too irritated by her voice -- I thought it was this weird pretentious put-on sing-songy so-polite-it-had-to-be-sarcastic affectation she had.

Then I met some more Canadians, and realized it was just a Toronto accent, and she wasn't really trying to sound like anything, that's just how they all talked.

Go go gadget cosmopolitanism, I tell you. Sigh.

Online, too many to count. In real life, no one cares enough to put in the effort.

Fuzzbean, can I be your new nemesis?

My #1 bully during my school years, elementary through high school, and leader of the gang of bullies. He was just a symbolic nemesis after I left high school, since I probably only saw him one or two times after that. He was just a nothing drunk. But if anyone ever asked who my nemesis was, it was his name I'd come up with.

I found out he died a few years ago. Surprisingly, given how bad I felt about those school years, I didn't feel unalloyed joy. Maybe your enemy helps define you, or is just a part of your life, or something.

I am nemesisless. There's a whack o' people who annoy me but 99% of the time, I can get by. One day, though, I'm bound to go off.

Yeah, I have one and actually in some ways, although alliances shift, I have like her entire family or at least one of her sisters, which is to say they are my nemesi. Anyway it's a long weird tale with all the usual components of love and sex and drugs and jealousy in it, going back about 15 years now and the weirdest thing about it is just when I think I've put it all behind me and those people are long gone and from another state entirely, it resurfaces in a completely insane way.

Pft. I'm happy if I'm only pissing off half the people I know at any given time. I'm kind of known for being fey and seemingly insensitive, though I've gotten better over the years.

Haven't had a human nemesis in about five years, but she was a piece of work. My lovely bully boss from years ago. She was convinced I was trying to take her job, and told anybody in range that I was trying to sabotage her with the rest of the staff. Fun times.

The only serious nemesis I have now is money. And computers. Computers hate me.
