Have you got The Poison Ivy? Here's a way to kill the itch (you may already know this):

Run hot hot hot water over your itchy parts until the water feels icy. It takes a bit, and be careful not to scald yourself, but it works like a charm.

It overloads the nerves and scrambles the signal, and the itch will go away for hours.

Also, that article about itching was fascinating and totally grossed me out. (She scratched to her brain? *runs from room screaming*)

Relink from New Yorker article simply because this is so important and fascinating to read.

I've been keeping track of this sort of "sensor reset" theory that's been cropping up in neurology recently.

The last 4 pages of that article are probably very important to read for anyone who has issues with chronic pain or itch symptoms.

You can totally skip over the first part where the woman scratched all the way thru to her brain [squeal, shriek, puke, omg omg omg omg!!!!]
