three point status update My macbook started not waking up from hibernate but mysteriously resolved itself.
[More:]

If I keep this up, I could get to be a councillor in 2012. I would be good at that. I am very good at kissing hands and shaking babies!

by election! we are hosting some folks from outside the city.
1. The daughter should have touched down in Texas by now. Good luck to her on the new life she decided she should have. She didn't bother to stop by to say good bye to her father. Hope she grows up. Hope she doesn't end up dead.

2. Vacation is over, and reality is quickly evaporating the memory of being on the beach.

3. I've got a wake to go to today. This is just not a great day, I guess. My good friend lost her mom, which is kind of a blessing as she was suffering. But no matter what, it's still sad.

1. Coworker is sick and keeps falling asleep at his desk. I don't know why the boss hasn't sent his ass home yet.

2. I was made a fool of earlier today and I'm still crankypants about that.

3. I am hungry, but I know that if I eat lunch now that I'm going to be ravenous when I get home, which leads to admonishments from my folks. Plus, I'll be home later than normal because I have to drop off my rental.

1. I had a good day at work today - I got on top of three big cases that I'd been putting off reading for a couple of weeks, and now understand them.

2. It's too hot. But I know it's cool by most people's standards. Probably around 81F at the moment here. The Underground was horrendous today, and I travel on the bit of the line that's overground. People (idiots) discard their free newspapers by putting them behind the seats, over the ventilation slots. There is no air-con on the Underground. Animals could not by law be transported in such conditions.

3. Working from home tomorrow, and getting a haircut and highlights. My base colour has turned out Much Darker than I normally have it, so I think the lights will need to be chocolate instead of caramel this time. But I'll leave it to my lovely hairdresser, Richard, to work his usual magic.

1. It is insanely hot and humid in Winterthur, I did not pack any linen or poplin pants and my hotel room has neither AC (which I expected) nor fan(which I didn't).
2. I hate being damp.
3. I went to two museums today.

1. Enjoying the clean house I kicked my butt to clean yesterday.
2. Watching tree crew remove remaining unsafe half-dead "shit tree" (Asiatic Elm) from yard. I have nothing against trees, just oversized weeds.
3. Done with prep for tomorrow's Jeopardy-style review session for students. Now it's NAP TIME. (That is when the saws quit.)

1. We're catstting for some friends who are couchsurfing between a lease end and a move out of town. they're muck louder than my cat, and wake me up at dawn every day.

2. I'm going to a seminar in a couple hours about home ownership. It will be followed by individual counseling about what I, personally, need to do to buy a house. I want this to happen very badly, but it's a balance now... finding a house I can afford is easy. Finding a house I can afford to HEAT won't be. I saw one the other day with thirteen bedrooms. THIRTEEN! If I pay almost $300 a month year round for just 1500 square feet what on earth would I pay for 4600?!

3. I should be sewing but I just can't get up the energy.

1. I had a very stressful meeting this morning-I thought I was there as an observer but instead I had to present to a room full of strangers off-the-cuff for 45 minutes.

2. I have a big red painful possible pimple growing on the side of my nose and I am mad because I hardly ever get these and I am flying to OH to see the hot boy I am dating this weekend. Bad timing, stupid face!

3. I had good pasta leftovers for lunch with spinach, hot pepper, sundried tomatoes, and white beans.

1. For breakfast this morning, I decided to do something different. Instead of my normal yogurt and banana, I fried up some rice and scrambled it with some eggs and cheese. Although delicious, I made and ate to much, and had to immediately go back to bed. It was like I had taken Ambien, I knocked out so damn fast.
2. As a result, I am behind on my work and I don't know if I will have time to go to the gym.
3. I really need to get to the gym.

1. Woke up LATE this morning because my alarm clock didn't go off. (I forgot to turn it on, apparently.) I've felt like I'm running a half-step behind all day.

2. The person whose license plate I mentioned in this comment actually emailed me (!) this morning to convince me that he's "not some kind of wacko." I started to reply to him, asking, "Wait a minute, you're Googling your own license plate and then tracking down my email address to..." when I just laughed, and deleted the email.

3. Looks like I'll be working on the 4th of July. I am so ready for this project to be over I could freakin' SCREAM.

1) The power in my neighborhood went out for about twelve hours, from around 3 pm yesterday to 3 am today. This was very exciting. Candles and storytelling ensued. Also, I got to use my hand-cranked radio/flashlight/siren/cellphone charger.

2) I'm wearing a skirt today but forgot to check leg hair status before choosing it. Let's hope no one notices.

3) The smokey air has cleared enough so you can once again see the hills from the balcony at work. That's a relief. They're just over there! It's very strange that they were invisible for so long.

1. The community health clinic I went to yesterday was less than half the cost of the corporate-y-for-profit urgent care place around the corner, a lot friendlier, and came with really (really) discounted medicine. It's a little weird to be relatively wealthy while I'm abroad and then come home to being uninsured for a few months, but if waiting for a few hours is the cost I have to pay for spending the vast majority of my life in cool places where health care isn't a huge cost or concern to me, then so be it.

2. E-filed for my economic stimulus payment yesterday; didn't know I qualified! Let's hope that auto-deposit happens soon.

3. Real estate agent coming over to the mdonley compound today to talk with Mom about selling the house, which has become a real albatross for the family. We're in a good area and the units in the condo complex we live in are selling well, so while we might not get everything we want, we'll still do OK.

3a. Mom and I have discovered that the key word for rental searches on Craigslist is "bungalow."

1) The girlfriend and I just scored a tapestry off eBay with portraits of JFK, MLK, and RFK.

2) On Thursday I have my first doctor's appointment, and thus first chance to get new refills on the multiple medications that give me a quality of life approaching normal, in about a year. VERY EXCITING.

3) Just reconnected with a high-school girlfriend who may be in a position to help me get one of my dream jobs. I actually am very happy to be reconnected with her, which makes it all the more nerve-wracking to think about bringing up job-related stuff.

1. Rocking out with two, count em' two! improv teams tonight at the Players Ring theater here in town.

2. My best friend from Junior High school will be in attendance - all the way from California! Havent' seen her in 11 years.

3. Tonight will be epic and I plan on being mighty drunk by midnight.

1. The RatZapper worked. I have now killed THREE rats in my kitchen in the last week and these are HUGE ENORMOUS GIGANDOR RATS FROM HELL, here, and I am FREAKING OUT and I just finally bit the bullet and emailed my landlord which is also making me FREAK OUT since I'm afraid he will toss me onto the streets for having rats although, godalmighty, I might not be the world's greatest housekeeper but neither am I in what one might consider the rat attracting league.

2. I have spent the last two days scheduling appointments for my aunt with doctors and neurologists and counselors for the elderly and so on and so forth and it's making me tired. Any conversation I can have with anyone right now that isn't about old women or rebellious teenage boys or rodent control or the cost of real estate in Asheville (I want to buy a house. This might be impossible. I wish to cry.) is a good one, but unfortunately 90% of my conversations revolve around those topics. Sigh.

3. I've been sleeping a lot and having long long wonderful exciting cinematic dreams that are infinitely preferable to my waking life.

1. landlady arriving home within a few hours. She has been gone for about 19 months. I hope she finds the house in decent condition. I am a bit nervous. She is two days early.
2. soon-to-be new landlady told me today that because of the price of heating oil [which is, to be fair, really apalling] rent for the place I verbally agreed to will be higher. Don't know how much yet.
3. Cancelled Boston date night because too much is happening at once and I got home from LA at 1 am yesterday. Was going to see/stay with my sister who is the most wonderful person on earth but in stress mode herself [selling house, overwhelmed] and has told me that every time my plans change (which can be often) she gets a headache.

My 3 point updates are rarely this stressy. Really hoping this is a mid-summer blip and not an ongoing state of nature here.

1. I liked my cherry red toenails so much that I just painted my fingernails. I think that's the first time I've painted my own nails in years -- I usually do such a messy job of it that it's not worth it. But they turned out well! Now I have cherries on my fingers *and* toes!

2. I have no idea whether I have a therapy appointment in three hours, and no idea when I'll know. I thought we left it at "You'll call me to confirm" and he hasn't called, and I left him a message that he hasn't returned, but I know he's only there in the evenings so I just don't know what's going on. Which is annoying, because it's making me feel kind of stuck at home.

3. My financial aid check has still not arrived, which is very very very annoying, as I signed all the forms over a month ago.

1. Feeling totally overwhelmed by current job (acting as Manager) and a little annoyed that I didn't get a chance to settle into new permanent job before being yanked into this one
2. Boss keeps insisting that I apply for the job permanently when it gets advertised next week. Undecided - I like the job (and the extra $10k), but it is fucking manic, I am on the go every single moment of the day until about 4pm when I get to think about all the shit that has piled up during the day that I didn't get to.
3. I thought it would be great to have my own office again after all these years, but I miss the back-and-forth of pod life.
