I want to meet bunnies in real-life in San Francisco Hoi! I'll be visiting San Francisco from the Netherlands and I'm really looking forward to meeting you friendly metachat people.

I'm curious though:[More:]
- do you SHOUT YOUR GRIEVANCES in real life too?
- do you [[hug]] as much in real-life? (I hope not since I'm an old-fashioned european northerner that is uncomfortable with anything beyond the slapping of shoulders and bisous)
- Do you look like bunnies? You're not furries are you?

So please come to the metafilter meetup I'm initiating around july 3rd and I'll buy you a beer.
I can even teach you some of this really neat secret language that I know; it involves a lot of guttural sounds.

Really? With this being one of our most popular books for kids!!! ;-)

Sadly, it is too far for me. And I probably do not represent the canonical Metachat archetype. However: I do not shout grievances, do not hug, do not even remotely resemble a bunny, and would be quite reluctant to don so much as a small pair of furry ears for a someone I really - you know, really - liked, and zout der aarde though you most certainly are, you have little to worry about in that regard.

Kár, mert egy-két "titkos" nyelvi érdekességre meg tudnálak tanítani a holland nyelvleckéért cserébe.

'our'? Are you Dutch? Another Dutch metachatter?
Well, I didn't say old-fashioned for nothing.
Actually knuffle-bunny (pronounced including the k) is a rather funny term.

No, I'm a Yank. Willems is Dutch-American.

jouke, I met a couple of the SF area bunnies. Next morning, I woke up chained to a telephone pole with my pants down.

Here's hoping you'll have a different experience.

Actually, cmonkey, I'm planning on visiting snownoid. So I'll take you up on that.
I know about your beer: Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, Erdinger

But, danf, was it any good?

And wolfdog; babelfish doesn't do hungarian. So you win.

jouke, you might get a laugh from this clip of a contestant and host on the Hungarian "millionaire" show having a little chat on the subject of correct Dutch pronunciation. "van gokhkhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?" "something like that."

I notice someone in the comments there describes the Dutch pronunciation as, "speaking German with an English accent while holding a hot potato in your mouth."

If jouke married box, their kids last names would be jouke-box.

I'm just saying.

Which would be quite funny if it were pronounced that way.
:-)
But it's pronounced approximately yowkah.

dude I'll try but no promises. The 3rd is awfully close to the 4th and I'm usually backpacking around that time.
