about:config firefox.download.rant = True Why did the FF people screw up download day so royally?[More:]
1) They choose some arbitrary time (10 am PCT) instead of Midnight UTC, for example.
2) They don't mention this before the actual date.
2) They fail to explain any of this on their website.
3) They also somehow fail to consider the hammering their servers' are going to get. "Service Unavailable". Nice.
Jinx!

So do I owe you a coke, and how do I attach said coke to an email?

What's this all about?

Yeah, it seems pretty insane. I've been trying to download that in the UK all day and nada. I realise they're going for a 245 hour period, but couldn't they have started and got Europe out of the way whilst America slept? Now they've got finished-work-for-the-day Europe and the States all hammering the servers.

TPS: Mozilla released Firefox 3 today and they're trying for a world record for the most downloaded software in 24 hours.

Ah ok! All the little pieces from various sites are coming together. So, they're trying to break a world record, and it appears to have broken their site? Oh dear.

any of these work?

Yep, that's it. You'd think they'd have learnt from when FF1 was released - that was similarly bad, IIRC. Also: Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' and NIN's 'Ghosts'. Also, I meant "24 hour period" and not "245 hour period".

What were they expecting? An orderly queue on the Internet?

I'm suspecting either former managers from FEMA and the DHS have taken over Mozilla Corporation or all their technical staffers in California left the office to get married.

Apparently the F in FUBAR now stands for Firefox.

Heh, Firefox eats bandwidth just like it eats all available swap space.

Fucking buuuuuurn.

Well, the ftp still works. And to their credit, 3.0 RC2 to 3.0 upgrade didn't mess up my settings like Opera 9.5b-9.5 did.

i got mine last week during a normal ubuntu upgrade. i'm talking final release, not the beta.

I just got mine, and I lost two of my add-ons. Fuck.

I've been running it for a while and like it a lot. The memory and CPU performance is so much better than 2.5, I was so tired of having my computer come to a halt while FF tried to load a page.

Nightly Test Tools are handy for forcing add-ons to try to work with newer browsers.

My install is running fine (but so did 2.0.0.4). My only complaint, so far, is that the new tabs are ugly.
