Toothbrushes! A recyclable plastic toothbrush that you subscribe to![More:]Seems like every three months, you mail it back, and they send you a new one and turn the old one into playground equipment. Kickass.

A little Pepsi-blue-ish, but I thought it was a neat idea.
whoops, misread. It gets turned into artificial lumber for picnic tables and such. Still cool!

I assume you buy a replacement BEFORE you send the old one back? Otherwise, that's going to be a long week-long wait.

I've had one of these (from Whole Foods, not a subscription), and it was... OK. Not the best toothbrush I've had, but not the worst either. The subscription angle is interesting, though.

I was surprised the price is reasonable, but they won't give any sort of idea of shipping cost without actually creating an account. (Yes, I've looked at their FAQ and elsewhere for shipping info.) Living in a place where we're often screwed on shipping, that's an EPIC FAIL for any online retailer. That's usually the point where I look for the same product at a competitor.

I was curious enough in this case to go through their registration process, giving obviously bogus info for everything except for city, state, and zip code. The result:

$4.50 in shipping, cruft in their database, and a pissed-off potential (now lost) customer.

Where do you live, D.C.? or is that a totally stoopid question? and if so, why would it cost more to ship to D.C.?
