non sequitur [More:]

maple helicopters are more fun than bubble wrap
"non sequitur" has to be one of my most favorite terms ever.

I can't think of anything odd to say, so instead I'll leave you with a non sequitur that my brain pulled on me; to quote my Twitter, "I just woke up out of a sound sleep and it struck me how much I hate the way that flight attendant says "hot saki?" in Iron Man."

It's true.

heh, that's a good one CF. my brain pulls all manner of weird shit on me when it's semiconscious. the worst is earworms. o god the earworms simply WILL NOT DIE

the even more non sequiturial part of the above quote is that it's a direct cut/paste from an IM chat with my mom.

tho I have to say IM is a fertile breeding ground for the most non of sequitur

She didn't mind that he was habitually late. The fact that he would occasionally "borrow" up to several hundred dollars from their joint account and have to be "reminded" to repay it was a minor annoyance. Even his rather sibilant speech impediment, which usually left her face moister than when the conversation began, wasn't a deal-breaker.

But as God was her witness, she wasn't going to put up with that stinking pet lemur he'd brought home from that business trip to Madagascar nesting in her sweater drawer any longer. Not after he'd soiled her best angora sweater set, the one given to her by Randy Mantooth back when they'd been dating. Now that was a man who knew his way around women. No need for a spit shield when he took her out to dinner. And what dinners they were! Why, she could still taste the pesto...

It was at that point that Lopez the lemur made his fateful leap onto the back of her neck, embracing the wig that reminded him so much of his mate back in the jungle.

Things were never the same after that.

I hate to be a pedant, perhaps I am missing something, but the original statement by lonefrontranger seems an absolutely sensible one to me, which is why as soon as I read it I invested in a life insurance policy on Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

The Duroc breed of hogs had its origin in the eastern United States and in the Corn Belt. It would seem presumptuous today to attempt to identify the foundation stock of the breed, which was originally called the Duroc-Jersey, because persons attempting to write the history of the breed only a few years after it was formed could not definitely state the exact source of the red hogs that went into their foundation. One source of the red or reddish-brown hogs that were found in the United States was reputed to be those that came from the Guinea coast of Africa, and it is said that hogs similar to those found on the Guinea coast were found in every country to which early slave trading vessels found their way. In The Story of Durocs it is stated that red hogs were brought to America by Columbus on his second voyage, and red hogs were also brought to this country by DeSoto. These were presumed to have come from Spain and Portugal, and red hogs were sent from Portugal to Nova Scotia. In The Breeds of Livestock, Sanders is of the opinion that reddish-brown hogs of the Berkshire strain were brought to the United States and probably found their way into the Duroc breed.

In 1837 Henry Clay imported four red shoats from Spain for his farm at Ashland, Kentucky. Daniel Webster imported similar hogs from Spain or Portugal in 1852 for his farm in Massachusetts, but Mr. Webster died soon afterward, and the hogs passed to the ownership of his relatives and were scattered into several states. The exact distribution of these importations and others that were probably made is not known, so it cannot be accurately stated just what part any of these hogs may have played in the formation of the Duroc breed.

At eleven seconds after ten minutes after nine o'clock tomorrow, the time will be 6/7/08 9:10:11.

If you use the USian convention of putting the month before the day.

If not, you're probably a Communist trying to steal our precious bodily fluids.

I saw someone who had a "my kid is an honor student at blah blah" sticker and a "proud to be scottish" sticker. For some reason my brain parsed it as "my kid is an honor student in scotland."

But if you're non-USian, that same time will pop up in another 29 days, on July 6th, or rather, 6 July.
