1974 (rugby league pre-season cup final) right scale of values.

What am I? A post-punk femme band?

This year, Juan N. Babauta released their finest album to date. "It comes soon enough" has a fantastic blend of 3 chord rock and the world music the band's name suggests...Check it out when you have a chance.

Zalipie, has opened before you.

I was pretty pleased with the results.

My band name is Dexys Midnight Runners! It sounds sort of familiar...hmmmmmmm.

Let me try again.

The Violin Player - difference in someone's life
. I guess I'm in a pretentious emo band.

Based on the band name, title, and cover pics, I would totally roll the dice on pompomtom and chewatadistance's bands. Although the West Finley Township cover looks sort of like a Jandek cover.

On preview - OK, I'd check out the last two as well! This really is more fun than it should be!

Dabitch's third band Projects Abroad has finally released their first album, "moral courage so rare" - where she finally matures away from the postpunk scene and now makes pretentious electrojazzmusic

I got tired of the whole emo scene and ditched the guys in the Violin Player and formed a new band called Gradungulidae. Our debut album enough to tell them. is out now.
Album cover here. I'm not exactly sure what we sound like.

Awesomest album cover art evah!

BTW, my quote was from George Best, and the full quote was 'I've stopped drinking, but only while I'm asleep'.

George Best and I have the same birthday. He played for Manchester United, I support them. The demon drink was a problem for both of us. It killed him.

Nea Vyssa - Habits Out Of Rats

Nea Vyssa's debut album, Habits Out Of Rats, takes the electronica/gospel hybrid that Moby pioneered several years back and places it firmly down the dark hole of American murder balladry.

Treated mandolin and guitar blend with melting swaths of IDM and electro influences to create a haunting, yet beautiful excursion into loneliness and melodic isolation.

Weimar Coalition - nothing more than slavery

The Weimar Coalition takes the listener into some darkly shaded, intoxicating timeless dubtech. All four tracks are centered around a dark dub theme and follow a basic pattern of an opening dose of minimal dub atmospheres followed shortly with the alliance of strong bass lines and sampled big-band sounds that develop their own cosmos.

text shamelessly lifted-and-edited from the thinner netlabel.

also, dabitch rules ok.

The Midsummer Marriage, Until Some Future Date, and here is the cover art.

I'm guessing my band is heavily influenced by 90s-era XTC.

I'll try another....

Band Name: The Times of Harvey Milk
Album: preparation for human contacts

The Times of Harvey Milk formed in the dairy farming region of northern Vermont as a religious/agrarian folk collective. They took their unusual name from a local tradition of giving milk-cows male names at certain times of the year, based on ancient harvest practices. Their new album, preparation for human contacts, represents a departure of sorts from their back-catalog of brief songs dominated by barnyard sound-samples. Loyal fans suggest that the new sound -- achingly cute animal-themed lullabies -- was developed in response to the birth of the first child of band co-founders Harvey Dunstaple and Millicent Freengratchette.

Lithuanian Tribunal -- I always found them.

Lithuanian Tribunal ventures into realms only hitherto imagines by Japanese experimental bands -- cute, boy-bandish pop/punk vocals on top of (and sometimes subsumed under) searing metal drones.

Peach Orchard - What You Get If You Don't.

Peach Orchard takes the well-worn Southern boogie template and give it a new(er) spin. Their relentless three-guitar attack (Wayne Aucoin, Marilee Smoot, Billy de Fries) on such stand-out cuts as "Kowary" and "(Too Busy) Thinking About Myself" are equal amounts Skynyrd and Television. Ruby Pellier's Hammond B-3 might make you think of Greg Allman, but her tag-team vocals with Aucoin are straight out of the X songbook. And providing the rock-solid bottom lines are Teddy McArdle (bass) and his brother Freddie (drums).
