Coconut meringue pie.

I haven't had that since I left Indiana and I LOVED it.

Indiana had rockin' pies in general.

Also, all picnics need watermelon.

Meyer lemon lemonade.

Fresh made mint/lime sodas. Mmm.

Devilled eggs. No bacon or pickles in them!

Lawn darts! Horseshoes! Also, my amazing homemade pasta salad with kalamata olives and tons of garlic. Plus gobs of sliced heirloom tomatoes with balsamic to drizzle if so desired.

Ethylene, are those the meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potatoes on top?! Dear god, I want to go to your picnic. I have wanted to try those since I saw them on tastespotting.
On my end, I will bring the kickball that we will need for the pickup game, plus a couple of bottles of chilled Prosecco, because that is what made our last picnic the fabulous success that it was.

apropos of not much, for all you Oaklanders, I fell off the no-sugar wagon yesterday with a sticky incredibly yummy awesome sticky bun from Bakesale Betty's. Now I'm jonesing for more.

If you like sticky buns of the not-too-much-bread variety I highly recommend Bakesale Betty's. (Betty's's?)

My special recipe for salty dried beef rollups with horseradish cream cheese filling.

lemon bars (nice and tart and sugary)

and a hand crank ice cream churn w/ banana ice cream makings so we can take turns craning the handle till it gets all super cold and frozen. I get dibs on being the one who gets to poke the drain hole with a stick to make sure the slushy/icy water doesn't back up.

I would bring some kind of shrimp salad or fruit salad in individual Chinese take-out containers.

Either that or my "homemade cookies", which are really slice and bake, but I don't slice. I spoon heaping tablespoonfuls and people think they're homemade because they're big and kind of wobbly on the edges.
