Holy Crap! Helicopter crash in Grand Rapids [More:]A medical helicopter crashed on top of a local hospital and the roof is on fire. That ain't good.
OMG. My mom was a bigwig administrator at Spectrum back when it was Butterworth. This is HUGE news for GR. Hope nobody in my family or that I know was there...

The ads in front of the video are so tasteful..., I wonder if they hit that higher portion with a rotor?

Wasn't Grand Rapids also mourning the one year anniversary of the medical plane crash from last year (that happened in Lake Michigan)?

I don't think that plane crash had much to do with GR, drezdn. It was on its way from Milwaukee to Ann Arbor.

Just called Mom about this. She's freaking out mildly and hoping that X, Y and Z person she knows was not involved. One of the people she mentioned is an ER doc.

I told her she'd better find an alternate route across the river to Grand Valley.

Deadcowdan: Ah... I thought I had heard about a memorial in Michigan, but I must have confused Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids.

A Flight for Life helicopter went down here a few weeks ago.

Turns out it wasn't that bad, it was a training flight with the pilot and a FAA guy. They both got away with only light injuries, or so says the radio.

No casualties, they say everyone got out safely. Whew!

In Wisconsin there was a MedFlight crash this month; unfamiliar destination, slammed into terrain (a tree-lined bluff) at night. The service is going to start using night vision goggles and other "recommended, not required" safety equipment that they hadn't gotten around to using.
