Question about hotels [More:]My sister is staying at a fancy resort in Orlando for an autism conference this summer. I want to drive over one day (or two) and swim in the pool and get a couple spa services.

I'm not worried about the spa services. I'm sure they'll take my money and I'm sure people probably use this spa without staying at the hotel. But what about when I go to the pool and roam the premises? Will they stop me? Will I be confronted and asked if I am a paying guest? I don't think they will be policing everybody but I can't remember if I needed my "key" when going down to the pool. I don't think I have.

If my sister checks in as a single person will they still give her two keys?

Thanks.
I've never been asked for a room key at a hotel for anything short of buying food/taking advantage of free food (and even then they just want the room number sometimes).

If you're single you can easily get another room key by "forgetting" your key in the room.

Thanks, grouse.

I'm probably worried for nothing. I'm really looking forward to going down there and stealing a pool day. If I get busted, I deserve it. ;-)

Well, MuddDude has checked in as a single person before and then gotten a room key for me (like, when we visited my family in college, and he stayed in a hotel while I "stayed at home"). They won't bat an eye at it (but they might gossip behind her back :)

I check in as a single person always and nicer places especially will ask you how many keys you want. If they don't ask, you can always ask for one and it's no big deal. You might need a key to get in to the room/gym area, depending on the place. It's really only the cheaper places that care if you're getting a room and stuffing it with underage drinkers or something, the larger places are all very service-oriented and your sis can be very up front "my sister will be visiting me for the day" and they'll be fine with it.

They won't bat an eye. This is good! Thanks, muddgirl.

This is what my sister said. Thanks, jessamyn.

Can y'all tell I'm worried? When she told me she was staying here my heart skipped. ;-) I'm trying to prepare myself as best I can so I can use the facilities. Their spa is Canyon Ranch. I'm dying to overpay for a Canyon Ranch experience.

She should just ask for two keys when she checks in. Sometimes you need a key to get access to the various amenities in the hotel. If she'll be with you the whole time, no problem. If not, then she should just get a second key.
