Oh, man. Cigars are the only reason I'm sorry I quit smoking. There is nothing on earth like the smell of the inside of a well-maintained and -stocked humidor.

I've never been a "smoker" per se, but I can't resist a cigar when I'm camping, or several if I'm in Key West. If cigarettes were like cigars, I'd be in trouble.

I don't count smoking cigars as "smoking" because if you're doing it right you aren't inhaling (I HOPE you aren't) and you don't have them very often at all. Several in Key West is permissible. :P

Last Saturday Jason and I were in St James in London (posh area, where all the gentlemen's clubs are) and we came across a place selling Cuban cigars. Jason in turn almost wept and fainted, as Cubans are illegal in the US, I believe.

Anyway we went in, and he was enthusing about all these different kinds of cigars, and the staff, I'm sure, thought he was about to drop £1,000 on cigars. We were taken into the humidor (which I had to walk straight out of, I couldn't breathe), offered coffee, the staff were incredibly solicitous and in the end Jason (not a smoker) bought one small Havana cigar costing £5.75.

At that price, probably not the cigars that are (allegedly) rolled on the inner thighs of 16-year-old Cuban virgins, but it did smell very sweet. He hasn't smoked it yet, but has promised to do so outdoors.

I had a Cuban Cohiba (they were out of the Montecristos) while on my honeymoon in Mexico. Most overrated cigar I've ever smoked. Dominicans are way better to my taste.

Punch Rare Cohojo is what we bought. Hubby picked it out cuz he liked the tube it came in. Silly, I know.
