Clean lemony-fresh victory is mine! I just thought of sprinkling some dilute citrus essential oil on my swiffer dust pads before dusting the floors, and it smells mighty fresh round these parts. Nicey! [More:]

Got any tips to share?

Nice, taz. Great idea.

I don't have any other tips than the ones you've probably read in magazines a hundred times.

Pledge Multi-Surface Cleaner has the same effect. It has a nice citrusy aroma and also traps allergens.

Cleaning tip: have taz* come and clean for you!

Ecshually, I've never been that on top of things with the floor dusting, but figure I better change my evil ways if I'm going to have a dog. Two reasons: one, there's going to be more hair/fur/outside-tracked-in so, the place will just need it... and two, it's super embarrassing when the dog goes under the bed or behind a table and comes out covered in dustbunnies. The rule is, this always happens in front of witnesses.

For me, anything that pays off with a nice reward immediately is something I'm willing to do (see? me is just like dog), so this is something that should keep me motivated to do it often, because I luvluvluv it when the house smells good.

Ooh, Taz. Great idea. Definitely going to do that one.
My newest cleaning product is a grout brush. I was in Target last night, getting my secret fix in the cleaning supplies aisle. I found THE VERY GROUT BRUSH I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED. I did a little happy dance, I didn't even care who saw. Needless to say, my family didn't share my joy. The boys go on a camping trip next weekend for three whole days, which I plan on using to clean my house from top to bottom. With my grout brush!

I liked that episode, one of my favourite cleaning-related quotes is from that: "Ah, the stink of clean." I use that one a lot.

My only cleaning tip is to invite people over. That way, you have to clean.

I use elizard's tip to great effect. The possibility of shame is an excellent motivator.

Me too, definitely. So much. If I were less of an introvert, my house would be so much cleaner. If my extrovert husband was not at least semi-stymied by my snarling and snapping, we would have a perfectly clean house all the time, because we would have visitors/parties/house guests pretty much every day.

However, I have become much better as I've gotten older. Much. And this is what my mom told me, too, about herself... so if you're pretty much a piggypiggy slob (and kind of regret it), and despair that you'll ever change your piggypiggy ways - it's not necessarily so. My bad house days, compared to 20 years ago? No comparison.

Maybe at some point you stop feeling pressured by outside judgements and expectations (which *cough* some of us might feel compelled to rebel against) and start doing things only for you. I'm talking of us piggy and partial/piggy types... some other types always had the gift of wanting to do it for themselves.
