I'm sort of addicted to "Music Through The Night." [More:] On workdays, if I wake up a little early, I like to get up and listen to the last hour or so. Nights like tonight when I don't have to go to work, if I don't get to bed by midnight, I find myself wanting to stay up all night and listen to it.

I had no idea it had been around since 1952.
I think my current job has totally ruined classical music for me. For the longest time we only had a limited set of CDs to play here, so consequently we heard them A LOT. Now classical just sounds like people doing algebra to me (and I'm a confirmed mathophobe).

Oh no, bmarkey... you're like Alex in A Clockwork Orange!

Nonsense.

i remember putting it on on the clock radio on sleep mode to go to sleep to a long time ago but i never knew it was npr. i think my introduction to npr was listening to Charles Kuralt On The Road when i was trapped one summer with only local pbs reception and the radio.
Npr isn't even always an option here and i get weak reception of a few shows at best, but i live in a musical vacuum. i never have any idea if something i like is popular or obscure, i assume it all must be somewhat known if i've heard it at all.
Thank god for the internet.

Ah, me droogies, fancy a bit of the old ultra-violence?

See, I just take things like delivery Thai food and NPR for granted. It seems that I shouldn't.

(Although the only time I ever really got into NPR was when I was driving a truck. Otherwise it's too much talking for me.)

I'm jus' singin' in the rain...

Yes, you do. You really do.

Sometimes i try to leave my computer on to play music to sleep by, but last night Bees woke me up after four hours because she was importing some monster playlist that i had to spend half an hour deleting because it used up all the space i had left.
She's been a bit bitchcakes all day.
Right now she's wearing a purple robe while she shoves me with her feet. Apparently it's too chilly.

I saw this the other day - it's not The Bees, is it?

No, but there is a resemblance and she does have a pink dress. i would never make her wear things if she didn't have an overwhelmingly bland reaction to it.
Yesterday she had four strands of beads around her neck. Didn't bother her at all. Not taking advantage of that seems wrong.
i'm making her a prehistoric look to go with her favorite shank bone.
i tried to make it like an extra Caturday today. i think she gets spoiled real quick. She seems happier when i don't humor her so much.

Cats are harder to dress than dogs. Dogs have this stable frame while cats have to have way more freedom of movement.
i am letting her warm by the fire.
Beep's newest pics make me want to go camping, except for the ticks.
It must be so nice to have a camper to take out.

SEE IT'S THREE A.M. AND I'M STILL AWAKE

and listening to "Music Through the Night." It is like crack to me. While it's playing, I might as well upload 200 pics to Flickr, or read about mid-century architecture, or rip songs off new CDs to put in my MP3 player.

I have all night. It's like an eternal twilight, where you can do what you want and have an appropriate soundtrack.

Till the sun comes up. (checks watch)

It doesn't work for me. boo. I wonder if it's one of those U.S.-only things. Anybunny outside the U.S. around to try it out?

Also, eth is referring to the little invader that I ran into earlier this week.

Boo, the player doesn't work for me at all.

Why would a classical music player not work outside the US? Is this stuff not all public domain by now? WTF?
posted by BoringPostcards 16 May | 02:33
Not quite the same, but hopefully this'll work.
posted by BoringPostcards 16 May | 02:43
And damn if they aren't playing Beethoven to go with our Clockwork Orange imagery. Heh.
posted by BoringPostcards 16 May | 02:49
That works! Why not quite the same? Is it the live feed? I'm hearing Ludwig's Symphony #9 right now.
posted by taz 16 May | 02:50
It's Minnesota Public Radio, taz, but it's not the "Music Through The Night" show. However, it rocks. I've turned off the radio and am listening to this. :)
posted by BoringPostcards 16 May | 02:56
However, as soon as #9 is over, I'm outta here.
posted by BoringPostcards 16 May | 02:58
Oh wait, this IS "Music Through The Night"... but not the same feed I was hearing on my radio. Hmm...
posted by BoringPostcards 16 May | 03:00
ah.

Okay, look, I got it: connect from here for Music Through the Night. Works for me. Is that what you were hearing before?
posted by taz 16 May | 03:02
oh, wait... I'm confused. Totally, totally confused.
posted by taz 16 May | 03:05
Well. It said it was Music Through the Night, but it was religious programming. Whatevs.
posted by taz 16 May | 03:09
My radio is apparently delaying the MPR feed... by an hour or more. They do local programming (which is good) for much of the evening.

Gah, I don't want to go to bed, as I've said... but I'm going to. G'nite, all.

(on preview): No, the religious "Music Through The Night" is not the same creature. Did you try here?

Anyway. Go. To. Bed.
