29 April 2008

Anybody get your "economic stimulus" yet? Not me. [More:] They're sending everything out in order of the last two digits of your Social Security number, and mine are 97.
But then, when I turned 18 in the last year of the Vietnam Era Draft, my birthday was around #300 out of 365 for the draft lottery, so things evens out.
Hmm I'm 91. It's not midnight yet in Cali and direct deposits go through around 2am for me. So if I get it tonight, it will be a pleasant surprise in the morning. If not I guess I'll just have to wait till it's my turn.

Where can I figure out when I will get mine?
posted by rhapsodie 29 April | 02:05
Ooh, okay nevermind I found it.

My SS ends in 52, so it looks like I'll get mine on the 9th.

July?! What address do they mail the checks to? I've moved since I filed my 2006 return, but my 2007 return has the correct address on it.

So, there are stimulees and "stimulators"... I'm on team stimulator. And, of course, Uncle Sam already got his cut from my checking acct.

Economic stimulus? Just a fluffer for the porn movie that is our economy.

Yeah, mine was direct deposited yesterday.

nuttin' yet. thanks for the link, gang.

cmonkey: 2007, I'm sure. Or, by direct deposit, if you provided that information.

The last two digits of my SS are 26, which means I just miss the cut-off to get it this week. Le sigh.

It's weird how I can be completely anti-economic-stimulus-check, and yet at the same time pro-random-$600.

I don't know mr. gaspode's SSN, and we file jointly (and he's the first name) so I have no idea when we will get ours. Must ask him.

Yay, I'm getting my own money back!

Oh, man. Gotta wait til June 6 at the latest, it looks like. For the record, I'll be using it to stimulate my savings account. Those students loans need all the help they can get.

64. I will be in the middle. I am assuming that since I e-filed, and e-paid, that it will go right into my account. It would be nice to have it today, since it's the last day till payday and I am broke. .

No such luck.

But then I have not gotten my digital coverter coupon either, and I applied for that very early on. So no high hopes for the money, until I see it.

It goes straight to college tuition, btw.

Maybe it'll stimulate me to pay down some of the debt I've accrued in this lousy economy, making the banks richer but not stimulating the lousy economy at all. Yay! Joy. Go back to what you weren't doing.
posted by shane 29 April | 08:52
Nope, not yet. I'm 90, so it'll be a little while, I suppose.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 29 April | 09:31
Aww, I'm 22, so May 9 I guess. I am going to buy so much gum with that $600.

June 20th :\
posted by stynxno 29 April | 09:51
Yay! I'm 10! But it's going straight to credit cards or student loans.

Woot, got it yesterday morning. (04)

Good thing I'm getting mine on the 16th, since I spent almost half of it yesterday. Wahoo! DSLR at last, at last! I think I'm stimulating the underground economy since I bought it used off Ebay from a person not a store.

I didn't know about the SS# thing...guess I can expect mine to show up in the mail tomorrow-ish? And then I can go pay for HPV vaccine shots.

(yesterday I had the terribly tasteless idea of using the money to say fuck-you to government sex-ed policies and get an abortion. but I'm not pregnant, and won't have much chance of getting that way anytime soon. so.)

Wal-Mart's got a plan to get you to (be more likely to) spend it than save it/put it towards your debt.

C'mon, saving is for losers. How ya gonna spend it, whatcha gonna buy? WHAT ARE YOU DOING GETTING WITH YOURS? BIG SCREEN FLAT PANEL BLING BLING SPEND SPEND SPEND STIMULATE STIMULATE. I don't need to stimulate the economy in the short term. I need to pay down my college debt so I can be a homeowner in the near future. If I don't get my credit cards down, the money I would be spending right now is just going to credit card companies (who arguably need it).
posted by Eideteker 29 April | 12:19
Yeah, we are waiting on a bunch of money, chez gaspode. mr. g is owed 900 from a retroactive raise from his last job, he's owed 1000 for conference travel reimbursement from 2 months ago, then there's the stimulus check and our paltry state tax refund. All that adds up to being able to pay off our main credit card (aforementioned conference) and put some money towards my student loans.
posted by gaspode 29 April | 12:37
That's actually pretty nice for Wal-Mart to cash the checks for free- no risk for them, since the checks are from the government, and saves people who don't have bank accounts the fee of getting them cashed somewhere else.

And I won't lie, I am tempted to spend my stimulus money.

I don't usually use the word "nice" to describe actions done in self-interest.
posted by Eideteker 29 April | 18:54
Me neither. Plus there's some back pay from a new Union contract we were supposed to get a few weeks ago, but it has yet to surface. Companies love dragging their damn feet.
